Hi Richard,

Welcome to the forum and Jag ownership, is this the first or a long line of many?

Best regards,

Dave

Hello All.

Thank you  for the nice welcome. No this is number 3. I had a 3.2 sport before, and ,more recently an XType., but my latest purchase is my baby. and thanks to Chris at the Jag Specialist in Doncaster, it is now back on the road and motoring beautifully, have endured many weeks of a so called Auto Transmissions Expert in the Preston area not being able to give a proper diagnosis of a gearbox problem. They insisted that my problem was in the mecatronics unit in the gearbox, promised me that one was on order. Almost 3 weeks passed and still no car , and I was told by these so called experts that the factory in Germany had cancelled the order, and that I should return the courtesy car(which they kindly lent me for 1 day) and take my own car back, and just keep driving it . My friend Brian  on a forum indicated that I should contact Chris at The Jag Specialist which I did . guess what I dropped the car to him on Tuesday at 11am,and he called me on Wed at 5pm to say my car was ready. Absolutely nothing wrong with the mecatronics unit . He rebuilt the gearbox and replaced the broken parts. He also informed me that I could have saved quite a lot of money on parts if the problem had been diagnosed earlier, as it should have been. So much for these so called experts who it appears don't know much about Jaguars.Thank you so much Chris for youer excellent work, and for me you are The Jag Specialist.

Hi Richard,

Sounds like you've had a lucky find with Chris - you should post his details/phone/email in a thread called Recommended Independent Garages, I think it's in the Owners Lounge.

Best regards,

Dave
