Can anyone help or offer advice? Only bought my current x-type 4 months ago and it has been in the garage for the last month. Gearbox fault message came on, local garage can't get to the bottom of the problem, another garage specialising in gearboxes can't fix it, and the local jaguar dealer say they have not seen the diagnostic code which comes up when it is plugged in. Any help or ideas much appreciated. Thanks in anticipation.

Does the car run or can you tell that something is wrong with the gearbox?

 

Is it automatic or manual?

 

There  is a post on here about Independent Jaguar specialists based in Northfield.  It might be worth a visit  as they are highly recommended.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the reply. The car is a 2.2 diesel automatic.

When the error message appears, the orange warning light comes on, the glow plug light flashes and the car will only run in first gear.

Will check out the Northfield post.
