I don't think so, Mike.

 

It certainly does not need to be reprogrammed on my S type.  There are full instruction on how to replace the battery in the key fob in the handbook.

 

You can even buy the batteries in the 99p Shop!

No it won't need to be reprogrammed. Just don't take it to the dealership as they will rip you off. It's really easy to replace.

Hi Mike ,just be careful when you take it apart.you have a small spring inside that operates the smart key release.

thanks Alan i found that have just orderd anew front for the fob as one of them the bit that holds the key is missing so key keeps droping out and the front comes with a new bit and spring
