Hi all, just joined the community.

Have 1994 XJ6 4s, have owned since 2001. Serviced by 'jack of all makes garage', only drive about 1000 miles p a. Been having problem about 6 weeks. Engine starts/runs fine, after about 5 miles begins to halt as though short of fuel then stops, and will not start. Leave 5 mins then starts, though runs a bit 'lumpy', drive off again and may or may not do same again. Once it does run okay, will drive 100 miles no problem, usual pickup speed and performance.

So far have had fuel pump checked, new fuel filter, new spark plugs and distributor cleaned and checked. Anyone else had this problem?

Welcome to the Club, Glyn.

I am no expert, I'm afraid, but there are quite a few who are,

I would give it a squirt of WD40  ---  it could have a touch a damp.  I think we saw a bit too much rain lately!

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks Peter for the welcome.

I think I've found the problem. Some who are expert may have thought of this sooner. I have found a crack in the ignition coil.

Regards

Glyn
