I've been promising myself an X type awd for several years. Today I put a deposit down on one. I'll pick it up at the weekend. It's not expensive, it's not top of the range. (2.5 sport) it doesn't even have 'climate' control. What it is, is a gorgeous dark blue......and mine. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas :) I'm Alan. You will be seeing more of me!

Hi Ralph, and welcome to the club. The s type is a great car, comfortable, stylish and quite quick in all versions. I come from the era of adjustable spanners and lump hammers, and don't get oily hands any more. But I do have a good mechanic! A late model S type - I have a 2.7 Diesel on an 07 plate - is a good buy and better still with a low mileage. The diesel has a cam belt which should be changed at 105k. There are quite a few members with a lot of knowledge of these modern cars and will give you some very good advice. Regards, Peter.
