    Welcome to the club, Peter. I used to have a similar Jaguar and I found that the best way of improving fuel efficiency was to drive at a suitable speed. I found that steady driving on good fuel gave me around 35 mph on an steady drive. My X type was taken by two gentlemen who later was placed in a Royal House for 8 years. I never got my car back!     It lives underneath the drivers side bonnet catch. You will need to remove the trim pieces to get at it.
