  1. Hi Jim The contact details for the aftermarket touch screen for later XK series cars is Steve https://www.cotswoldautoparts.co.uk
  2. Hi , The supplier is an acquaintance of mine who has an extensive history with Jaguar Land rover, he is UK based. He sells these touch screens. I will contact him and ask him if he is OK with me passing his contact details on this forum. I do not think he will object but as a matter of courtesy I think it's only correct.
  3. Hi N6JMX The modification I was referring to is an aftermarket one, the central touchscreen and ventilation/ heating controls you refer to on the standard set up is removed completely and replaced by a touch screen that integrates the in car entertainment system, heating, cooling and ventilation systems, heated seats , SatNav, telephone and WiFi capability via your phone. Amazing piece of kit that totally transforms the car. This is also available for the FType.
  4. Hi Nigel, the later 5.0 XKs are a fantastic vehicle, they are very well equipped and offer absolutely excellent value for money. However they can suffer from serious rear subframe corrosion. For long distance touring the XKs are in my opinion a better choice of car. Either way both the F Type and XKs are great cars. There is also a modification available for the entire entertainment and heating /cooling controls system for the XKs. It comes in the form of a touch screen that replaces all the existing centre console controls and transforms the car immensely. I have a contact that supplies them in the UK and have seen one working. Amazing transformation that massively improves the ergonomics of the car. It is plug and play and needs no wiring modifications.
  5. Hi, I have had the pleasure of owning 3 F Types, 2 of which were convertibles and also a 4.2 XKR convertible. Without a doubt the XKR is a much more comfortable car for touring long distance in my opinion, the later 5.0 versions have a high level of specification equal or superior in some cases to the F Type. The boot space in both types of convertible is limited . The XKR being larger, but when the roof is down the space is reduced unlike that of the F Type which does not have a stowable partition in the boot. I also know that some replacement components for the XKRs are no longer available from JLR at all, these include the later XKR models, for instance the rear subframes are no longer manufactured, and some electrical modules are also affected. Maybe a factor worth considering. I do miss the ride quality of the XKR, my wife is not a fan of my FType for this reason. The 5.0 FType is an impressive performer, but a completely different driving experience to the XKR. I would like to own one of each type but don't have the space!!
  6. Hi Many Thanks but it is for the previous model, my car is the 2007 onward.
  7. Hi I have a 2007 Xkr and the drivers side headlight unit is in very poor condition due to moisture ingress, I have been searching for days now to find either a second hand one or an equivalent type on the non JLR market, does anyone have any ideas where I may get one?
