  1. I have a 2002 X-type which has the two screen ac control cd/radio unit and I was hoping to fit a sat nav unit in to the space that it takes up. I did some research and even asked on this site whether it would be possible to swap the units over, and I was told that it is possible to do so. So I bought a sat nav unit with the screen, the dvd unit and the Motorola phone module, which duly arrived. I decided that today would be the day and removed the existing unit and wrapped it up and packed it safely away in a box. I took the replacement unit out to the car and was getting ready to fit it when I noticed a difference in the wiring blocks. The original unit had 2 separate blocks in the back of the ac unit whereas there was only one socket on the back of the sat nav unit. The cd /radio players wiring was perfect but there was absolutely no way on this great earth could I see a way to sort it, so back I go, feeling a right !Removed! and unwrapped the original unit and returned it from whence it came. Can anybody put me right, can you swapped a double screen unit for a sat nav unit, is there a connector block that will turn the two blocks into one so I can plug it in the back. Will I need to source a wiring loom that will connect the units in the boot to the head unit will it then control all the required system functions, or was it just one big waste of time and a not insignificant amount of money. Any help you may be able to render will be very gratefully received. I am in your hands, regards, Alan
  2. Hello, I realise there are many people that have asked similar questions but I thought I would, with your consent, ask what I am wanting to know. I recently bought a sat nav system for my X-type and after waiting about 1 week a large box arrived. In it was the head unit, a dvd drive, and what I assume is a phone module by Motorola. I scouted through the box and to my dismay there were no connecting cables, I had some very good advice from a gentleman on hear telling me that the system would fit in my car. I am assuming that the wiring for the head unit is behind the existing one, but I have no wiring for inside the boot, which I understand is where the units go. May I ask if the dvd drive is the sat nav unit aswell, also does anyone know where I can get the cables and some idea as to how they are connected. Also the facia on this system is a different colour to the one I have in my car now, is there a dismantling yard that specialises in Jags out there? I thank you for your time, regards, Alan
  3. Thank you Joe, I will definitely be researching a bit further. I have heard that you can get more upto date discs on ebay. Thank you again, I am very grateful. Regards, Alan (Oddjobber23)
  4. Hello, I am completely new to all this so I humbly ask for your patience. I have recently bought a beautiful 2002 2.1 V6 X-type and it has a dodgy entertainment system. I have never been one that enjoyed cutting down my viewable screen amount with these sat navs that you stick on the windscreen with a sucker pad and spit. I understand that some X-types have a sat nav system where the centre console is, and I was wondering if it is possible to fit one of these sat nav systems in my X-type instead of my dodgy one that has the two separate screens, one for the cooling system and one for the radio/clock. I realise that there is probably already someone that has asked this question before, so please excuse the duplication as I scoured the forum but was completely overwhelmed by just how much information is available out there. Best regards, Oddjobber23
