  1. Hi Kevin I've just had an Adamesh St1 & 2 system fitted to my 2003 XKR soft top. Replaces the 4x mufflers that come out of the centre silencer. Sounds great and not too boomie. Another option is to just replace the back 2x mufflers. Cheaper and much easier to fit too!
  2. Just noticed a typo in my last message. I didn't replace the heater pump!! Should have read .. and bingo! my heater pump and front fogs are back.. Apologies.. Richard
  3. Hi Les. My 2003 XKR developed a problem similar to yours recently. The heater started only working if the engine revs were >2000rpm. Even then, only just. Also found the front fogs weren't working and traced to a blown fuse no3 (5amp) in the under bonnet lhs fusebox. This little fuse operates the relays to both front fogs and the heater pump. So I replaced fuse which of course, just blew again. Looking closer, the same fuse also operates the 'intelligent sounder'. It's security gismo which alarms without need for a battery and is located in the front rhs wheel arch, accessible from a wee hatch in the wheel arch liner. So I pulled the connection off the IS, replaced the fuse and my heater pump and bingo! front fogs are back in business. I can run without the IS and may just leave it out altogether. Any help to you??
  4. Hi I've recently put and Adamesh st1&2 exhaust system and consequently have the 4x mufflers that came off the car.. Anybody interested? Cheers. Richard
  5. Hi Mark Apologies for the delay in coming back to you. I'm not sure that your symptoms of cycling between the gears at 50mph is the same as mine but the causes may be!! In the case of mine, the surging comes in when the gearbox has changed up into 3rd and above. Under low acceleration or pulling up an incline the surging starts when the box changes up and revs drop to between 1000 and 1500rpm. If you try and 'push through' with a little more throttle surging worsens until the revs get > 2000rpm. Problem is on low throttle settings the box will change up as speed increases and put the engine back in the 1000-1500rpm zone. Lots of throttle or use of the J gate to keep revs above 2000rpm and you don't notice the surging. No warning lights or codes up. I've had lot's of people now who have checked it out.. Still no further forward. Cheers. Richard
  6. Ok great thanks Jim, I'll certainly look him up. The latest advise I've had is to check the O2 sensors so I might get this done first.. Cheers. Richard
  7. Update today. Car was checked over by the auto-gearbox specialist. They say there's nothing wrong with the gearbox so I'm back to square 1. I was convinced that was the problem but at least they ruled it out. So my search for a specialist in XKR engine management is my next port of call if anyone can suggest someone??
  8. Me again, with the 'surging' XKR. Update is that local Jag dealer ran a diagnostic, and suggested I find a specialist (clearly ruling themselves out!!). Anyway, I've since learnt the 6-speed gearbox has a mechanism (clutch arrangement?) that locks up the torque converter when the car goes into higher gears.. Knowing this the symptoms fit well with this mechanism locking-unlocking causing the surging sensation at high gear/low engine speed/gentle acceleration-incline. So it'e going in for specialist gearbox diagnostics next week - fingers crossed!! Does this problem now ring any bells with anyone? Cheers. Richard
  9. Hi Just bought a 2004 XKR. Lovely car. Only niggle is the motor tends to surge on gentle acceleration and below 2000rpm. Dead easy to use the J gate manual selection to drive the car smoothly, but would like it to be smoother in D and understand the problem if pos. The motor runs sweet as a nut, no sign of being out of tune.. So car runs smooth through town, and no probs under acceleration. It's just a small band of throttle setting eg going up a gentle hill.. Any clues gladly received!! Richard
