  1. Hello, Steve, It is the extra torque you really notice ! I have two friends who have gone through the same upgrade procedure with their BMW 320d M sports and one who is booked in to do the same with his Skoda Octavia TDI VRS next week. We shall hence forth be known as the "middle aged diesel boys" ....init ! Lol . In the case of the BMWs around 3 mpg extra is being achieved for urban driving. Glad you like the idea. cheers, Mike.
  2. Hi Trevor, Here are a few pics ................ Cheers, Mike.
  3. Hello, I know this might be a little controversial but I think I have come up with a new X Type model which some of you chaps might like the sound of ? It is the X Type 2.2D Sport Premium "S" estate : ) My 2005 afore mentioned is the first off the production line (unless it has already been done in which case please disregard ). All you need is an original example and £910.... £250 for a well set up ECU remap (190bhp, 320 lb ft ), £4.05 for an EGR partial blanking plate, £33 for a silicon inter-cooler EGR charge hose, £600 for a stainless free flow exhaust system (no DPF, free flow CAT, twin elliptical tail pipes, another 10bhp) and most importantly the "S" badge (£23), from the back of the XF V6 3.0 Diesel Sport model. I know it might not seem quite right to some but I figured that with sports suspension being standard and the considerable power increase the car deserves the "S". I would be curious to know if other X Type owners have considered or carried out something similar ? Would be happy to post a couple of pics of the back end if anyone is interested ? Cheers, Mike.
  4. Thank you Trevor, I see a black plastic or wood complete console is available no problem as is black plastic or wood finish for the ashtray and gear surround. I wonder if piano black was ever a standard finish for any of those parts ? Thanks again for the time Trevor : ) Mike.
  5. Hi , I am new so please excuse me if this is not the right place for this type of post. I have an X Type 2.2D estate with a piano black and cream leather Interior. The centre console is grey plastic standard and I would like to either change the whole plastic facia for a piano black one or maybe even just change the ash tray and manual gear stick surround for something better. I have noticed that some models have wood finish ash trays and gear surrounds so I wondered if it is possible to buy these items in various finishes ? Thanks, Mike.
  6. Hello Steve, Those Sovereign interiors are very nice indeed, I really like the wood and the piping on the seats. Nice looking car you have there ! Your alloys are quite similar in design to the "Dezent" wheels I have my eye on :) Hello Peter btw ! Mike.
  7. Hi Steve, Yes mapping is a fairly common and standardised non standard upgrade lol. It will be worth waiting to read the article on mapping here as it will be Jaguar specific and no doubt well researched. Keeping leather seats looking fresh is not easy if you will keep sitting on them but regular application of a good leather treatment will help ! Will post a few pics of my X type after I have the new exhaust fitted next Wednesday sir : ) Cheers, Mike.
  8. Thanks Trevor and hello Steve, X Types are a great way of owning a Jaguar for those of us who can't afford to run a Jaguar lol I am also looking forward to reading the article on mapping to see how it compares to the research I did before interfering with my cars "brain" and respiratory system so to speak. To answer at least part of your question Steve, the re flashed ECU map allows for either much more power and drivability OR better fuel economy if your right foot is fitted with mechanical sympathy and tenderness :) It's all about efficiency they say. I would like to see a few pics of your X Type and I will be happy to post a few of mine if you are interested. Mike.
  9. Hello, My name is Mike and I have owned my first Jaguar (X Type 2.2D Sport Premium estate or "sportbrake" if you prefer 2005), for three years. I bought the car from Harwoods of Chichester with 34000 miles and one owner. it is "petrol green" with a cream leather and piano black interior.....lovely. Great all rounder and in my opinion a bit of a looker (unlike myself lol). I decided that at 65000miles it was time spend a little cash on the car so recently had it mapped to approx 190bhp and 320 lb ft and partially blanked the EGR. What a difference! I would seriously recommend this £253.05 upgrade to anyone: ) Next week I am having a free flow stainless exhaust system fitted with a nice little twin tailpipe. In the spring I am going to fit new alloys and tyres (in keeping with discrete Jaguar styling of course), because I intend to keep the car so I figure that it is worth "pampering" if you know what I mean ? Nice to meet you ! Mike.
