  1. Hi Everyone, well i have done it.....back in Jaguar Ownership. Purchased today a 2005 Jaguar S-Type 3ltr se Auto with 49k miles on the clock, one owner vehicle. I pick the car up on Friday afternoon, looking forward to it. Thanks for all your replies. Graham :D
  2. Hi Peter, thanks for the info. Yes i can remember when i use to ues the A5 on a Sunday morning in my XJS V12......nice memories. Graham
  3. Hi David, Does the 2.5 V6 have cam belts that need replacing? If so would you know if that is a difficult job to do? I havn't had the 2.5 V6 before and as there seem to be a number about for sale i was thinking of trying one. My days of putting the foot to the floor are now gone, just after a comfortable ride. My current car is a Mercedes 320 Cabriolet lovely car but just that bit too low for me now. Many Thanks for the reply.
  4. Hi Guys, many thanks for the responses, much appreciated. Graham
  5. Many thanks for that Peter, i had a look at a diesel at the weekend which i felt was something to be desired condition wise and was not cheap.I felt that it had not been looked after, and this was presented by a dealer, which surprised me as first impressions count. I suppose with the diesel the cam belts need changed where as with the 3ltr petrol these are chain driven. Also my mileage has dropped considerably so the fuel mpg savings would not be an issue. There do seem to be a lot of 2.5 V6 for sale at the moment. With regards the 2007 i see the road tax is around £590 i think, but these are a nice car at this year. Many thanks for your time Peter,i will keep you updated and thank you for the kind offer of a test drive in your car. Graham
  6. Hi Everyone, as per my previous post i am now looking to purchase an S-Type,but which model, any thoughts please? I have owned a 2004 S-type 3ltr Auto Petrol before but would appreciate your thoughts. Is the 2.5 V6 ok,or a Diesel....but concerned about the DPF reliability. Look forward to your replies, many thanks. Graham.
  7. Hi Peter, many thanks for info, yes looking forward to getting back to Jaguar Ownership. Graham
  8. Hi everyone, having sold my last s-type in August of last year and gone into Mercedes ownership i am now looking to purchase another s-type,can't resist as they are such a superb car. So now to part ex my Merc in my hunt for an s-type. :D Graham
  9. Hi there folks, another week has passed by and a few cars have been looked at while my S was in the bodyshop and i must admit a great job was done. I think i am on the home straight now having decided on 3 models of cars, not all Jags i am afraid but i have looked at how they look, interior comfort - looks, ease of servicing,i still like to dabble. So we have the XK8 - Convertible/Coupe - Jaguar S Type - i will say this one quietly,Mercedes R129 SL Range pre 2001. They all have their positives and negatives, where in my opinion the mercedes scores over the xk8 convertible is the hard/soft top configuration. But the xk8 has a better looking interior and after all you do sit inside the car a lot! The S Type is still tops in the all rounder category and my head says to have a newer version but my heart says "Convertible", her indoors says "keep the one youv'e got! Graham
  10. Kevin, i went into my Profile and added it to the signature.
  11. Kevin, its beginning to look that way,as currently for me it does tick the boxes,it would have been nice to have something newer as i think the S-type finishes in 2007? But i feel why spend a lot of money and not be satisfied(her indoors is so pleased.....she mentioned something about the kitchen ^_^ ,i think she was going to wash up!) My S-type is off to the bodyshop next week to get the rear corner dent fixed, they reckon it will take about 4 days. Thanks for everone's help, much apreciated,so lets get on with the search, i will let you know how i get on. Graham
  12. Mike, many thanks for that it was very helpful. It certainly gives me another option. Graham
  13. Hi Peter, many thanks for that. Are the 4.2litres better engine wise? Regards Graham
  14. Kevin,i agree i am very lucky, getting older has its positives i suppose,so i am having a good luck around. Although a great car the XF is not for me. I have now seen a few XK8's and not one has "tempted me to buy" as yet. I have looked at Coupe's and Convertibles and each one has seperate advantages and disadvantages(like all cars). The only car that i feel fits the bill for me is the S-Type,so going to look at the later petrol models. In my opinion having looked at the different models the S-type is going to take some beating. Picking up on Trevors point re metal convertibles, they do seem to give you the best of both worlds,oh dear but no jag variant. Graham
  15. I have seen posts on another forum that when members have removed the sill covers they have had a bit of a shock, to find rusty sills. I have just sprayed mine with Built Hamber, but i did not remove the sill covers just sprayed inside. I suppose because they are hidden behind the covers they get forgotten. Also sprayed the front offside of the subframe as i noticed some surface corrosion. Graham
  16. Great news Kevin,i bet that was a relief. Graham
  17. Kevin, not really sure about an xf but will have a look at them, the xk8 looks great.....one with red leather interior would be even better :P
  18. Just a thought, under the round adjustment switch is the switch to alter the left or right mirror, this needs to be in the centre, just a thought you may have done this already. maybe you could unclip the back of the wing mirror and have a look to see if its seized,as i remember i could push mine in manually but needed to spray the mechanism for it to function. Good Luck. Graham
  19. Hi Guys, i may now have to change my mind and get a boat :( . After the flash rain storm on Saturday my garage was flooded up to the sills of my s-type,but luckily for me it did not enter the car, garage is now drying out,i was lucky as others had far worse. I have looked at a few XK8's and i was surprised how badly a lot of them have been treated and people wanting loads of money for them. Later in the week i am going to look a couple of XF's,but at the moment my trusted S-type is not leaving my side :D Graham
  20. Hi Daniel,on mine you just press on the bottom of the round mirror adjustment dial and release, they should fold, then press again and release to reset them. With regards the rear blind i have found if they are not used they stick, with no sound from the motor at all.I gave mine a helping hand a 'tug',sprayed in some wd40 on the linkage and has been fine since, this is how i done it but maybe different for you. Graham
  21. Peter, thats a great idea, please count me in. Graham
  22. Kevin, thats made my choice even harder now :D . Well its gotta be worth a look, but i am dictated to some extent on whether it will fit in the garage, then i suppose could move house and get a double garage. Graham :)
  23. Trevor, many thanks for the info on convertibles. I suppose to keep onside with her "indoors" i could suggest she could put her car in the garage and i leave mine outside...mmmm, Graham :D
  24. Peter and Trevor, thanks for the replies. Trevor i agree it will be another Jag definitely,as you say they are all good,i have had many over the years and also have had Mercedes and i always come back to the Jag. Trevor is your XK garaged,is it in a single garage? Peter thanks for the info i will have a look online,as if i had the space i would keep the s-type and get an xk. Graham
