When on a motorbike all other bikers either wave or nod.
I once had a wave from the driver of another XK8 same colour etc as mine and both of us with the tops down but usually other Jags don't wave. If the Owners Club sticker was bigger or if we had a grille badge they might.
. If they were in the club that is.

Specialist in Northumberland.
Coquet Motors in Amble deal in all makes but the owner is a time served Jaguar Technician and very knowledgeable on all JLR models. They have full diagnostics and seem like a canny bunch of lads. My only dealing with them to date was an MOT on my X350 today but I will certainly use them again.

I bought a Sealey for about £25 a couple of years ago and it seems to work fine on the XK. Probably paid for itself when it picked up a faulty knock sensor then an EGR fault on an X Type. More recently I got an Icarsoft which is specifically for Jaguar Land Rover and gives live data etc, that was about £100 but might be cheaper now. There's lots of info on the forums about them so there's plenty for you to read if you're not into the Olympics
. I had a faulty ABS sensor on the XJ and the Icarsoft picked it up no problem.
Good luck.

it's in between the X and the K of the XK8 Badge
Mine is a 2001 and the boot lock access is inside one of the circles of the number 8 on the XK8 badge, . I think it's the lower one but not sure,They must've changed it at some point but I'm sure you'll find it.

Hi Conrad
Do you know if the auto lights are working on the car?
Thanks Pete

I was delighted to get Agreed Valuation cover for my XK8 for a very reasonable £200 from Adrian Flux. Our cars have depressingly low market values and this cover gives a bit of peace of mind in the event of an accident. I certainly couldn't replace mine for the market value.

Hi Mark
I had a very similar problem on my X350 and when I read the codes ( ICarsoft code reader ) it came up with Low Battery Voltage to Gearbox. I was advised on the forum to check the electrical plug on the gearbox for Oil contamination. Apparently they are supposed to be changed when you change the Oil, I think you need access to the inside of the gearbox to change the socket but not sure about that. Anyway I didn't see any Oil contamination but I gave it all a clean up and touch wood it hasn't come back. I wonder if a failing battery might cause the fault as well.
Good luck

Hi John
I used one years ago on an Austin Healey Sprite and it damaged the paint wherever it touched the body also it tended to sweat. No doubt they've moved on a bit in the intervening 20 odd years so it'll be interesting to see what people think of them now.

Sounds delicious Peter;

Great pictures Henry. I could almost feel the sparks running down my sleeve and smell the paint burning.
Thankfully my XK is one of the few cars I've owned that doesn't need surgery (yet) . I wonder if repair panels are available for them. No doubt as they get older and become collectable, someone will start making them.
Thanks for the pics

Thanks for that Andrew, It certainly seems easier than replacing modules etc.
My old X type had bluetooth but the XJ doesn't and it's a bit of a miss.
Thanks again

Hi Andrew. Sorry to be a Technophobe but......right back to basics .Am I right in thinking that I pair up my phone to this device, plug it into the car and I can accept phone calls hand free Does it use the cars' built in speakers?
Thanks

Just arranged insurance for my 2001 XK8 today. For the first time I managed to get agreed value ,classic car insurance with Adrian Flux for £200. Maybe it's because the car is 15 years old now that it qualifies for this type of cover. I wonder if my 2004 XJ will qualify in a few years?

Hi Luke and welcome to the club. The XF looks seriously mean in black. Hope you enjoy the forum.

Hi Gordy
Love the S type, gorgeous colour. Welcome to the forum. There are all sorts here, even a few Jag mad Norveners

Used my card at Halfords a few times and as you say Ron they sometimes look a bit blank but I always get the discount. I've used it for Europarts as well, a good saving if you're buying something big like a battery. I couldn't fathom out how to use it when ordering from the Halfords internet site but I'm sure there's a way..

If I had glanced over to the left I would have noticed that it was an S type. I assumed it was an XK for some reason. Hopefully something simple Chris.
Hope I didn't send you looking for non existent switches.

Really silly question Chris. Is the master switch by the gear change switched on? I say this because after a winter lay up I spent an afternoon searching for a fault then remembered the master switch
Good luck

In my community stats section I'm listed as having an XE ( Chance would be a fine thing ) Is it possible to edit this to show XJ and XK8
Thanks

Sometimes we can be humbled by the way people deal with situations. It puts some of our totally irrelevant problems into perspective.
Wishing you both the best of luck and hope for better news in the New Year.

I always tell the 'armchair experts' that the great thing about these cars is that ownership is not compulsory , If you don't like them don't buy one. Sometimes "Methinks he protests too loudly ". ;)

If your bonnet already has a round 3Litre badge presumably you won't have to drill it to fit a leaper. My XJ has one and when I bought the car I intended to take it off and put a badge in it's place to hide the holes,Sadly it is held in place with the strongest adhesive known to man as well as a big plastic nut. We tolerate each other now but it sneers at me every time I look at it.
I suppose it can stay there a bit longer as it has sort of grown on me.
Hi Paul
Excuse me for talking s---e. I didn't notice the 4 previous pages regarding drilling the bonnet.

Europarts have a deal on Shell Ultra Professional 5W 30. £ 44.99 reduced to £19.99 then presumably our discount on top of that
Make a nice little Xmas present for the other half.

My X350 had a long standing peculiarity ( now rectified) where it would flash the headlights when it pleased. Often at passing German cars but sometimes at Police cars and vans full of totooed builders at traffic lights.
.Maybe we should leave it up to the cars to decide if acknowledgements are in order. I'm convinced that they have a mind of their own anyway.
