  1. Hi Peter

Thanks for your response, I am leaning towards keeping the car I have as it drives like new. The depreciation doesn't really come into it as it probably isn't worth more than £7k now. It was more the mileage that concerned me but on these big V6 diesels with mainly motorway driving maybe I shouldn't be so concerned.

  2. Hi

I currently enjoy a 59 plate XF 3.0 which I have now had for 3 years. My dilemma is as I now have 120,000 miles on the clock I am thinking of upgrading to a newer model. Given that this "wonderful" government of ours is bringing in ridiculous charges in the next couple of years for diesel cars sold before Sept 2015 (65) the only options I have is to go for the newer style 65 plate onwards. I can't stretch to a 3.0 yet so I am looking at maybe the 180bhp Portfolio. I do about 35k miles per year.

My questions are, is the New XF 180 Portfolio any good ( I am concerned about going from a nice V6 3.0 to a 2.0 Mondeo engine.) Or should I just keep with my current car and pile more mileage on to it?

I have an angel on one shoulder saying keep your money and carry on but the devil on the other saying "go on buy it you know you want to"

Any advice that would help me to make up my mind is more than welcome.

  3. Does anyone know if getting your XF serviced outside of the Main Dealer network affects your extended warranty?

The fixed price servicing seems overpriced and when you add in the last time it was serviced by a main dealer they told me I needed new pads and discs all-round at a cost of (£600+). I declined and got it checked at a brake specialist who stated there was no need and here I am 16K miles later still no brake issues or warning lights etc.

Is it worth going to an independent type of garage for the servicing?

    Cheers

  4. Hi Chaps

Good to see the Satnav is still generating a long debate. I still have my problem that since the updated DVD (2012 thanks Trevor) my radio is really poor and loses reception for a pastime. AM works fine but as soon as I drive any distance it drops the signal and struggles to regain it. In addition to that when I turn the engine off with the radio on and working fine when I restart the radio doesn't come on and I have to push the power switch at least twice to get it come on again.

It is going in for a service in a couple of weeks but I am not holding out much hope in Jaguar sorting it!

  5. Hi Trevor

Thanks for the prompt response, I did try the original disk but I think it may have something to do with the software upgrade that was on your disk.

Even with no disk the reception is still poor, I am back home tomorrow evening so I will do some fault finding over the weekend. I will make sure I haven't disturbed any leads when changing the disk etc.

    Cheers

I am using cruise control far more than I used to, mainly so I don't get tempted to throw my licence away!!

35mpg is fine for a 3.0 but just a bit annoying when the figures say an average of 42 from a 3.0 Diesel.

I bought mine from a Joshua so maybe the same person, to be fair I think he did give me a good deal for a car in this condition plus he let the mrs have a go in the new F Type so it put a smile on her face for a few weeks although she now wants one!

She can have one if my numbers come up

    Cheers

I think country music is the only type I don't like!

Bit of a concern about the XJ, I have to say I am delighted with my XF from Taunton Jaguar despite being over 4 years old it only had 29K miles on the clock. It is the nicest car I have driven but I am slightly disappointed by my MPG I am averaging 35 over the last 6000 miles and the biggest chunk of that is Motorway or dual carriageway and I sit between 75 and 80 mph most days. I thought I would have got nearer 40mpg but the car is still worth it.

    Cheers

    Steve
