hi don't know to much about petrol cars but could it be the coil pack. its just someone I know with a saab had the same thing was the coil pack

it sounds like the alarm/anti-theft has gone wrong I hope old peter reads this he is very good with the s/type

hi steve its in limp mode and sounds like the ecu what you can try is to reset the ecu this is done by disconnecting the {black lead from the battery and leaving off for 15/20 mins but before you do this make sure you have the radio code good luck trevor

hi peter mine is running rough but no lights on I am just hoping its the egr it is back at the dealers but they have not looked at it when I rung so if it was the egr would their be a light on? I can only see what they say when they get around to it just say it was the worst case and the engine was shot as I only bought the car last Wednesday would it be down to them

hi you need to find the sensor that has gone down you do this by putting the car into reverse and putting your ear to each sensor you should hear them ticking the one that's not has gone wrong also you can put your finger on them and feel if they vibrate hope this helps trevor

hi james I have the same thing need to look at mine sometime i have the estate I think it can be done from inside the boot I don't know if its the same on the saloon worth a look

trevor I am hoping its just the egr on mine the good thing is its under warranty but still not good for something I only got last Wednesday hope its not going to be one of them cars forever going wrong

can you reset the service light on a x type ? if so is it like a ford one foot on the brake other on gas turn key on then off job done

hi looking on ebay they do two kinds of blanking plates one that blanks the whole thing off and one with a 10mm hole the one with the hole is ment to stop the warning light coming on
