  2. Jaguar S type 2.7v6 diesel automatic 06 reg.  intermittently the park brake will not engage and Park brake fault comes up on the dash.  I have been told this could be to do with a sticking rear brake calliper.  Does that make sense. As do not want to go to the hassle of changing them if it would not help.  It did this before and changing the brake pads seemed to help for a while but it has started doing it again.

I have just had both mine replaced at a cost of £500 But be careful if you are still driving it around as you are not getting the revs you need to regenerate the DPF ( If it is in limp mode)

Thank you. The car is not in limp mode so we have done what Peter suggested and will see if that helps. The code apparently means they are sticking not gone completely.  We have been quoted about £600 all in to have them replaced.

    Hi Joan,

The 2.7 Diesel V6 has two EGR Valves one each side of the V6 engine.

Apparently is is a mucky job, and I have had the code P0402 crop up a few times,  I nave used a Wynns Spray into the air intake. Just take out the air filter and with the engine running when warm at 1200 rpm spray in the whole can.

Recently however, I have used a fuel additive - a certain amount each fill up. It is called Diesel Auto Max and it is fro Millers Oils and readily available online or Halfords.

P0402 is a cumulation of exhaust gas i.e. a sticky valve  - sticking shut.  A good blast occasionally  --   3rd gear selected on the J gate for 10 minutes can clear it, or use the additive.

Let us know how you get on.

    Regards,

    Peter.

Thank you Peter.  Did doing this sort the problem out permanently. My husband has done this today and said that when he put the spray in a load of dirt came out the exhaust so hopefully that has helped clean it. He has also put some Winns Diesal Fuel additive in and given it a good blast as you suggested.

    Regards

    Joan

  5. Last week husband picked up a gem of a car S type 2.7 V6 SE diesel  Automatic with 46 k on the clock and full service history.  New cam belt kit and fully serviced.. He is so happy as he has always wanted a Jaguar.  Only problem I don't think I will get a look in.   Already had a great help from member  Raistlin on forums regarding manuals etc as they were not with car so thank you,
