  1. Thanks for replying to my intro. My X-Type has two problems with the brakes that both may be related to the ABS system. Occasionally, when I first start to move, the brake peddle is very hard and barely slows the car. If I pump the peddle a few times it returns to normal. That sounds like a master cylinder problem, except for the second problem I have with the brakes. Again, occasionally, while driving at freeway speeds, the steering wheel starts "shuddering". It gets worse and worse. I discovered that applying the brakes sharply will make this problem go away. Any guesses? Thanks in advance. Tracy
  2. Hi, I've had a Series III XJ6 since '92 and just recently bought a used '04 X-Type. I know they didn't rate very well, but I've ogled over their looks since they came out. I just had to wait for their used price to come down. The XJ6 was my first love, but it has been a hobby to keep her running. The X-Type has an intermittent brake problem. I'm hoping I can get some help with that once I learn how to use this resource. I'll go read the forums for now and post something later.
