  1. In the united states it qualifies as historic. At least I was able to register mine and get historic tags. You can insure it with collector car insurance. When you take it somewhere people ask about it. It is a classic. It is not as collectible as some other cars but I think that is due to the challenge of maintenance and the number of them out there. I still think it is a classic.
  2. I recently joined those who love Jaguars and completed the purchase of a 1988 Jaguar XJS. I have own various different cars over the years but have been drawn to this car. I read lots of conflicting information on the good and bad of owning these cars. But, after my test drive I was hooked and had to have it. I hope to get lots of good advice and help here. I have the V12 engine. The car has 48,000 miles on it. I was told by the shop that did the maintenance on this car from the previous owner that the car was well maintained and they rattled through various maintenance items. I hope that holds true. Any advice I receive here will be greatly appreciated and welcomed. This car will not be a daily driver for me but a cherished collector car that will get driven for fun and pleasure.
