  1. WANTED - Jaguar S-Type Must fit the following specs: Red Automatic Petrol Low mileage Service history Age is not so important. I'm searching for a buyer that has funds available and wishes to buy this week. All models considered- SE, Sport, R etc and it's the model produced from 1999 - 2008 that is required.
  2. Hello Geoff, I'm in High Wycombe. I'm interested in both the wheels and your exhaust, what do you have on yours? Of course wheels and exhausts are expensive and I'm looking for the most cost effective route...I've compiled a list of everything I want to get done but it adds up to nearly £2000 so I'll have to go slow and steady over the next year or so..
  3. The car has Jaguar service history, only two owners and MOT for a year with no advisories, I haven't yet cleaned the car or taken any pics, these are from the internet ad:
  4. Thanks Raistlin, I can report that overall it drives almost like new. It's 15 years old so it does have the odd niggle but I hope nothing that is too much trouble, the main thing is the slight misfire. It occurs between 50 - 70 miles on the motorway when at a constant speed and occasionally around 30MPH. I have bought the car at a good price knowing about this fault which I think is either a coil, plug or maybe throttle body. I've yet to plug it in and read the codes. Very impressed with the car though, it's smooth and powerful, everything works. Once I have fixed the niggles I'll be looking for some 18" wheels, mesh grill and maybe a sports exhaust system. I'd better get Christmas out the way first so I'll be looking to buy in the middle of January if anyone is selling then?.
  5. I'm not really a new member, I had an X-Type 3.0 a few years ago which very sadly had to go to the scrap yard. I'm back now as tomorrow I'm collecting a 2000 S-Type V8, I've always wanted a V8 engine ever since I first understood what one was around 10 years old. At that time I imagined a Ford Capri with a V8 implant but having already satisfied my desire for a 3.0 car with the X-Type I'm now really looking forward to my first weekend with the V8...
  6. Thanks Dave, I gave it a good clean up today. I did the interior after the pics so looks even better now. I'm very impressed with the excellent mechanical condition too. It just needs some paintwork done and a couple of exterior trims replacing over the next week or two. I've not got any tax on it until later this week so haven't even had a good run in it yet, I can't wait...
  7. With the work I'm doing for him and the cash I paid I've effectively got it for £500. It has a full years MOT (just one advisory on a suspension ball joint), Jaguar service history up to 100,000 miles, (it's now showing 140,000). It's in pretty good condition with some paint work for me to do, I have a hobby restoring cars so I expect it will be ready for somewhere like the Bank Holiday meeting later in the Summer... I'll get some pictures in the morning and I'll probably run a 'work in progress' thread...I'm all ready to spend any spare time I get working on the car...I just checked all the lights now it's dark and they're all working and I love the feeling inside the car, it's very nicely lit and has quality!
  8. Thanks for the welcome Dave, unfortunately it didn't come from a dealer, I've had a deal with someone I do work for which has worked out well but I'm on my own as far as repairs etc. The car has arrived tonight and apart from a couple of bodywork issues I'll be repairing it looks fantastic. The only faults I can find are a rear window not working and a high tick over which gets up to 2000 revs after revving the engine. I imagine I I'll start off cleaning the throttle body. That's if I can resist cleaning and polishing the car first! It's such a fantastic car it even exceeds my expectations....
  9. Hello, I'm re-introducing myself after a couple of years absence. I used to have an X-Type 3.0 Sport (a car I would definitely own again). I have now bought a 1997 XJ Sport and I can't wait for it to be dropped off tonight. I'll be scooting around on here learning as much as I can about the car. It's a blue 3.2 (6 cylinder), almost full Jaguar dealer service history, 140, 000 miles. On the test drive it was faultless and drove like new, The only slight concern I have so far is head gasket as I understand this car is right at the recommended replacement mileage.
