Opening Boot when battery dead on 2008 XKR Converible

A friendly garage replied yesterday, the key access to the rear luggage compartment is behind the rear number plate -
Hi, has anybody got any experience of how to get into the boot to charge the battery when it is dead. The boot will not open manually and I cannot find any access for the remote key in this area. Thanks in anticipation
