  1. I'm sold on it since I heard yours paul.......the clarity and general sound is far superior to the standard system. cant wait to get that far steve
  2. Thanks ian keeps me off the street looking for orange bulbs! pretty sure they exist so will update as soon as I've got them and fitted them. take care steve
  3. Hi Ian, I have been contemplating this for a while...in Amber or orange. Guessing yours is in white? its a cool upgrade and I've seen it in the orange and , whilst it's not great for reading and the like, it's a fantastic warm glow that matches the dash oranges. As my interior is two tone grey it should look cool. well done mate looks fab. Once I've done a list of the type and quantity of bulbs I'm off hunting for orange led bulbs. will post a snap at night to show an alternative colour to yours. Yet again a great idea for others to see the possibilities with these cats. steve
  4. Quick update. Battery swapped. Everything reset and engine allowed to idle till at operating temp. Drove for 10 miles. Car seems smooth and no fault codes showing. whether this is because the ecu has reset and has yet to pick up the faults I don't know but would like to think I'm on top of this issue and the premium battery has worked its magic! Time will no doubt tell but we live in hope. Thanks to paul Raistlin for the PDFs procedures for re setting and the advice! Input from others also appreciated. Next project please! steve
  5. Hey Paul, yup, have all the lists to get on with it thanks to you. am just trying something first as I've borrowed a trickle charger from a neighbour and it seems my battery is low. Will try a charge first and see if that helps with things. if it does will look at trickle charger to top up each week similair to yours. As everyone says....prevention is better than cure. will update when I've got an idea of where I am. Take care steve
  6. Yeh, many people say it's quite straight forward......it's the small percentage who have issues that worry me. As usual interneting a question throws up a lot that should be ignored but , as I'm only human, it's worst case senario every time. Lol well.....here goes! thanks
  7. Gents, am due to start changing the battery for a new one and rather foolishly started reading the many horror stories that some people have had during this process. they range from alarms going off...immobilisers locking out and worse still the car not starting at all! Does anyone have any words of reassurance before I begin or words of advice....god forbid I have any of the above...it will not only upset the neighbours but also frustrate me! Thanks in anticipation
  8. Thanks paul, Copied and ready for procedure. Didnt realise I'd have to drive the car after I'd installed the battery...the hoops you have to jump through with some cars! Ah well hey ho. will hope all goes well and fingers crossed. cheers paul
  9. Hi peter.. Nothings ever simple with a car. Will do a list of items ready for the change. I suppose it will at least keep me busy for an hour or two. regards Steve
  10. Cheers gents. It's a minefield sometimes with batteries...some seem able to last and others.....well just don't. Will be looking into ordering ASAP. always good to seek advice on issues such as this to ensure a decent replacement is installed to avoid issues along the line. I'm guessing also that the only things I need to do after replacement are re set the clock and the automatic handbrake? cheers
  11. Hi guys, To follow on from paul raistlins recent comments on battery issues.......... It is clear that my present battery has "given up the ghost" and is telling me by throwing up random faults and running less than perfectly. If I drive with nothing on such as radio, nav etc it seems to stop throwing messages. With this in mind it's clearly time to change the battery which is causing the issue and check out the alternator. Does anyone know the best battery/ recommended battery for the 2.7 engine on a 2004? Ideally I'm hoping it's one I can get hold of easily so I can swap it out at the weekend. Thanks in anticipation. Steve
  12. Well done paul. This Bluetooth module and components were fitted to my car by paul today. wow.....quick and easy and, having tried it several times, works great. The install is simple and the results are great. All function through the touchscreen, the signal strength is very good ( average 4 bars out of 5 ) and it's simple to use. The microphone in the central overhead liner seems happy with everything and there is little or no distortion. again well written paul and well installed. On to the next retrofit as discussed with a few tweaks to the voice. Keep it up!
  13. Well done that man.........I would suggest there will be a flurry of comments and questions on this one as it seems to be a regular topic on the forum. We all learn by asking and trying until we succeed and you've certainly thrown yourself into this one! Retro fits are something many people want to do but never seem to be able to get direct answers or advice on so I thank you personally as I've been a tiny part of the question section initially when I came down to yours asking the question why won't my retro fitted voice do the right commands! Frustrating but...it now appears you've been at it answering the question. Look forward to seeing it all functioning tomorrow when I come down. Take care and again....well done. steve
  14. Strange I should see this post paul.....I've had the gremlins for the past 3 or 4 days. It first manifested with the restricted performance message...which worried me immensely until I realised there was no performance issue other than the warning. That was for 2 days.....now I've got the abs message! I'm pretty sure it's the battery as you say so I will be sorting that very shortly! Ive got to admit that posts such as this are really informative as, like many, I panicked thinking the worse but having read this article and used a little common sense it suddenly.....well.....made sense. great post paul. Keep up the educational articles
  15. Well.....I'm one of those who didn't know I had powerfold.....until you told me when I was with you. As said they have been lubricated and are working a treat. cheers paul....these little gems are a huge help to us learners.
  16. Must admit it's fun learning about these things. Nothing is ever as simple as it looks but hopefully it's solvable. speak soon paul and take care. steve
  17. Joe, having an issue with my voice module which paul r is fitting for me. The module will only allow me to command a few items such as radio and basic general commands. It won't allow me to operate climate ( except for resirculation) , nav won't take command or cd/ cdc. I've been told that each module has menus internally with instructions that allow access via voice command to the systems on the car when made. In other words if you retro fit voice and the donor module comes from a car that had just about everything it will let you command accordingly. Hope ive explained that properly? That would then lead me to the question " can they be re programmed to allow voice access to all systems as required" im scratching my head and Paul's a little confused at the issue. any ideas. Thanks steve....( and paul Raistlin)
  18. Thanks pete will look forward to a meet soon.....looking forward to it and yes paul is great. Had a good chat and he certainly knows his stuff. all the best steve
  19. Apologies for late reply to all. As I've told paul I have recently lost the wife so sometimes neglect to message back. am mightily impressed with the forum and with members....I'm so please to be part of the forum and am looking forward to getting to some of the meets this year for a good natter about all things cat. Ideally wanting a meet in Yorkshire initially but..hey what the hell ...if there's a big meet would probably be interested in attending . looking forward to joining in and being of help....and appreciate the warm welcome. Paul raistlin has also been a great help and is a top bloke. If I can be of help in any way please just message. again...thanks p.s will post pics as soon as I get chance ..
  20. Thanks Jim/ phil, im on the case on eBay...dynamix sound good so will also look at them. really pleased with the repair so once it's coloured it will look great.......although it have a feeling I will have to do it again as its on the seat bolster and I don't know how long the fix will last . ah the joys of cats! again thanks and take care all.
  21. Hi JIM, appreciate the response. Looked on eBay but didn't see anyone obvious but will look again and message a few. Was hoping it would be easy so fingers crossed. surprised jag couldn't point me in the right direction but I suppose we can't have everything. thanks and take care.
  22. Can anyone point me in the right direction for leather stain in the colour dove grey ? ive made a repair and need to colour it close to the original. thanks in anticipation
  23. Big thank you to Paul Raistlin for his help and advice today when I popped to see him. Not only has he offered to help me with a retro fit project but he's also given me a few ideas for further things to look at doing...........he also gave me the news that I had folding mirrors , which I didn't know, and assisted in loosening them! It is always a pleasure to meet someone who is passionate about cars and there workings and to give up family time to assist is fantastic. It's fired me up and given me so many ideas. This is how it should be...enthusiasts looking out for each other and sharing there passion.....roll on the micro meets . Cheers paul and see you soon for the retro fit.
  24. Thanks guys, after deep thought.....gone direct to stealer. My cat deserves the proper ones..although the wallet said otherwise. I appreciate the pointers on where to go and will bear in mind for future ref. cheers all and be good steve
