  1. that sounds like my type of car and averaging 52 mpg, thats just incredible for a car that size. looks like the headlight moans are not to be taken seriously which is nice to know. Haven't seen the just the right low mileage car yet but I'm in no hurry,I know its out there somewhere.
  2. Ross currently looking for a late reg diesel estate so not an owner yet but here's my 10 penceworth. Based on the Jag owners I know the Jag market is predominantly a grey market ie over 50 ( I'm 66). The younger market ( and my kids and their friends bear this out ) all seem to lust after the German stuff and the fast Japanese stuff. At the risk of being contentious I would hazard a guess that the majority of Jag owners also own their own house, are a professional or similar middle income earner and conservative with a small 'c'. Good luck with the degree
  3. Ray,have you got it home yet ? Am thinking of getting an '09 2.2 Diesel estate and would be really interested to hear your initial thoughts on the car once you have driven a few hundred miles. For what it's worth the only recurring grumble I came across in my research was the 'dim' headlights, other than that the X-type appeared to come out as well as the usual German and Japanese suspects. Good luck
  4. after a lifetime of Volvo estates have decided its time for a change. The usual German suspects are good but seem overpriced and boring, the X-tpe estate really looks the part and seems good value for money. This will be my first Jag so will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the various Volvo's of the last 30 years. Not sure if there are any club pub meets in this neck of the woods but if there are I will come along and pick some brains. All cars have their weak spots and I'm sure the X-type does as well,I'm just not sure what they are at the moment. Currently running an old Focus as the daily runabout and a Lexus SC430 as the Sunday afternoon car.Difficult to get 2 big dogs in the Focus so the X-type is eagerly awaited by Alfie and Archie and Mrs T really misses the heated seats. Just got rid of an Alfa Spider, what a disaster, don't ever doubt the stories you hear about Alfa build quality. Having said that a couple of niggly little things have just gone wrong with the Lexus!!!!!!! Thats about it for the moment, look forward to meeting some of you as and when.
  5. am thinking of getting an Xtype estate circa 2008/9 and have heard the headlights not very bright on these cars. Any truth in this and if so is there a cure ? Thanks
