I am starting this topic which proved really popular on the ST owners clubs website so we will see if it transfers here . The idea is to show and tell what you have done with your vehicle TODAY be it photos (we all love photos) of modifications or just great snaps of your pride and joy be it a new car or an one!!!. Ive already loaded photos in the gallery section but look forward to seeing members motors. So come on all lets get this thread going

I agree with Jeffus, a professional detailer is very sound advise. I use a clay bar to remove surface dirt, which gives the very best ever glass like finish I have ever achieved. Top this off with a good quality canuba wax, I recommend Harley wax, its a fabulous product and unlike most wax/polishes it leaves no white dusty residue and leaves a mirror like finish. In on my 4th tin and the more layers that you apply the deeper the finish you get. Ive spent many happy hours in my man cave (double garage) using this type of product and usually end up feeling quite , but after doing all the hard work the result is .

I mirror your sentiments, the performance of your car must be breath taking. Cosworth comparison whale tail too, I guess thats a love it or loath it item for some, I think she looks fabulous, especially the calipers in red

A very nice individual looking beast you have there buddy, my car is the pearl grey listed after yours, welcome from Wales.

No replies reference my question brighter sidelights?? Surely I have not stumped the club, this cannot be???
Decision made reference the mud flaps, all 4 including installation at a Jaguar main dealer £152.00, a no brainer, they are going on.

Hi Mike, Ive had two X-Types, a 2.5SE and a 3.0SE. Both were great cars my advice check the sills as this can be problem, enjoyed both of mine and regularly received comments on how nice they were too which is always nice, hope you enjoy yours, Steve.

Yes its good to be back, here are some pictures of the new machine, I have ordered a set of the chrome strips for the side vents as I had these on my old 2.7 and thought they really stood out well. Still deliberating whether or not to bother putting mud flaps on again, they do make the car look as though its sits squatter on the road, the jury is still out on that one for now. The only other thing which I am contemplating is putting brighter sidelight bulbs in to use as daytime running lights, anyone have any thoughts on that???Cheers for now.

Hello fellow Jag friends,
The off side wing mirror on my Jaguar X type has annoyingly been wobbling around like a jelly on a plate. Following on-line advise most of which says ''do not to even attempt to fix it'' in typical bloke manner I took this info on board and then duly chose to ignore it. Having thrown all caution to the wind its good news and after very gently prising at the mirror for an embarrassingly long period of time (2 days in total gradually getting more confident) I have successfully managed to remove the glass from the housing without breaking it yay!!, So far so good. It however looks like the metal housing bracket has failed. How do you now remove the bracket from the body work to replace the failed bracket? Many thanks Bromers

Hello Phill,
You dont fancy the 2.7 diesel then? Good engine in my opinion so long as the diesel particular filters have been serviced as can be around £700 - £800 to have done. Find a good one and happy days, if no receipts for this work either walk away or haggle hard for a discount. Bromers.

Morning All,
The weather wasn't great here yesterday but fortunately I have a double garage so managed to clay one side of the car. Before you start If you run your hand over a panel surface you can feel resistance and hear a noise similar to that of rubbing your hands together. The clay worked really well, I kept the area moist and remoulded the clay frequently as recommended by Ronnie and after use the surface really does feel fantastic, just like running your hand over glass. Where I had slight surface scratches (not deep) I then lightly used T Cut and finished this off with a quality canuba wax. I would definitely recommend using clay and will post a couple of pics when its finished, even the wife ventured into the man cave and commented that the car looked well.
(Andrew, I actually had a pint in the Castle at lunchtime yesterday, they have a new product called Stella Black, absolutely superb drink and only served in a limited number of outlets in the UK.)

Hi all,
Just back from the local auto centre after purchasing some clay and , (thanks for heads up Ronnie). Clay does not feel as soft as I expected, not very malleable but I will work it some more before actually using it. Right I am off to give it a shot and will report back the results later.

Hi Andrew, thank you for taking the time to reply, useful video. I am going to give the clay a try tomorrow and will then post my results in a few days time. Yours looks superb & I have always liked the 7 spoke alloys. My car has the sport alloys which where fitted from new with the dove grey interior. From memory the AWD's are a bit heavy on tyres but I recall a great story when I was on business trip in my company 2,5 and was going to Lancashire in the winter of 2002. It snowed like mad for bout 3 hours & the motorway was totally grid locked apart from me in the Jag and a guy in a discovery who couldn't believe it when I followed him up and over a steep hill over the A56. He stopped at the top and asked how the heck had I just done that and was amazed when I told him it was a 4 wheel drive saloon. (A 4 wheel drive that actually works.)

Hi All, I have just joined the club as I have just inherited my fathers 51 plate 3.0 X-type SE which he has had for the last 10 years, full service history and is in pristine condition. (He has not passed away just had a new car.) He purchased it after seeing my company car back in 2001 which was the X-type 2.5 SE. I have since also owned an S-type 3.0 SE and most recently an XF2.7 Portfolio so its fair to say like the big cats. Anyhow back to the X-type she is going to be semi retired into my garage and used occasionally on sunny Sundays, not worth a lot of money but far to good to sell off. I want to polish it and achieve a glass like finish which isn't easy on silver and wondered has anyone had any experience of using the detailing clay bars which seem to be all the rage now. Any success, recommended or not? I was then going to lightly T cut and finish with a Canuba wax. Cheers Bromers.
