Owned my new Jaguar for 3 weeks , wasn't expecting a Jag to be my first car but something just felt right about it! It’s a Jaguar X type 3.0 v6 sovereign edition! If someone could maybe advise how rare these are (if they are in anyway!) and if they are sought after that would be great? As noticed not many for sale and registered , Happy to have joined!

Went for a long drive, steering much heavier in Dynamic mode at speed, checked all other suggestions, all OK, wife drove back, and she's happy, happy life, hope this helps.

First thing to do is read the codes. If the battery is indeed not charging then that will upset the engine manangement and many other things. It could be there's a short to earth in the warning light circuit which will cause this. There could be a number of other reasons for it as well, i'd suggest searching for a local Jag independent specialist and/or a good autoelectrician.
-
Hi, my " BATTERY NOT CHARGING " light comes on most times, I've had a new battery and alternator fitted but it still comes on, my mechanic has assured me the battery is charging although the warning light is still on, has anyone experienced this problem before or any tips on how to fix it?, many thanks Neil.

hi there, i would go with proper remap service which can be suited to you needs - performance or economy.
-
Does anyone's recommended one, I'm looking for milage more than performance, lots on Ebay, between 70-120 pounds, and are they worth it, also insurance and warranty issues thanks.
-
You might be able to clear it using an OBD-II scanner but it might also need a dealer reset - suck it and see.
-
OK thanks will do.
-
I gonna have to check and see if I can clear and reset the tranny to my style OR is it a dealer only ?
-
No codes, showing anything, already checked 😞

Hi guys so last two days iv heard the sub not sounding too well (couldn't handle the hardstyle and drum&bass i suppose) today it has completely blown iv lifted the sub box out of the boot and removed the sub, is it possible to replace the sub with an aftermarket sub still utilising the oem sub box or will I have to find a decent oem sub?

DSC Not Available, ABS Fault error message
LairdScooby replied to Vinomaker's topic in Jaguar X-Type Club
If it appears mostly after a start after a period of inactivity then i would suggest the battery voltage is getting a bit low. Keep an eye on it and see if that's when it mostly comes. -
I have a 2005 XJ8L and periodically I get an error message "ABS Fault, DSC Not Available". I do not know what signals it but it will go away after a restart or sitting off for awhile. When I took it in to the mechanic it wasn't showing the error so they couldn't investigate. Any ideas what is causing this message?

Thanks guys I have the offending parts on order already, and the source of classic parts has been bookmarked. I have to say I am very impressed with the information that readily flows from this site. From my user name Spyderromeo you will guess I have been associated with other clubs for other mark some national, some international but I have never received such quality responses so quickly. Be proud! For those interested my car in my user pic is myself at the end of the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans in a Porsche 550 Spyder replica not really a kit car (I use it as a trackday car).but one derived from one 50 years ago (not even made anymore) it had a fibreglass body actually moulded from an original Porsche and a space frame that was so good I knew original 550 owners who used parts from them for maintenance. I still own it and it and its Covered Race trailer, but I am not sure I would like to do many laps in one anymore. The Romeo bit in my user name comes from the fact that it is Alfa flat four powered with a 5 speed gearbox, limited slip diff, inboard brakes, etc. Thanks again. Spyderromeo

This is the type you need for your car; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255593035828?chn=ps&_ul=GB&mkevt=1&mkcid=28&google_free_listing_action=view_item the later type have cutouts on the bottom edge for the integrated repeater lamps.

Hi Jim, if you haven't already, you need to find and peruse the Jaguar Classic Parts website / catalogue. Whilst you are unlikely to be able to purchase many parts there, especially at the moment, you will find all of the parts numbers you need to second source what you need. You will also find out what parts are model year or VIN specific. The link below was copied as I looked at the chrome mirror caps / covers for the X-150. https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/150.1051.2279.10812/brand/jaguar/ I also think you will find that the 2010 MY mirror caps include an indicator repeater, whilst the earlier cars do not include this feature. Thanks for the info. Oil and filter change seems to be the place to start. All the best, Kim.

I have lost the rear view mirror cover on my XKR (Buckinghamshire wooded lanes!) but rather than get involved in paint jobs on primed parts I decided to replace both sides and go for a chrome finish. I can find a few sellers of the parts but their specs don't seem to be the same as my understanding of Jaguars. Can anyone enlighten me. My exact spec is an XKR 4.2 Supercharged Convertible year of manufacture 2007. This is therefore an X150 I can't find any info that says Jaguar changed the mirror covers on the X150 in 2010 yet the sellers all seem to indicate they have covers for X100's or covers for an X150 after 2010 the illustrations look the same as my car but I have learnt not to trust only absolute statements on the internet. Can any one tell me if the mirror sold as suitable for a 2010 XKR will fit my 2007 XKR. Spyderromeo

What Joe said ^^^^^ I suspect it's had a change before and the wrong fluid was used, alternatively it could simply be the original fluid is old and dirty. It's surprising how many faults are fluid related. Also worth checking the wheel balance on the back end and also springs and dampers/shock absorbers and suspension bushes at the back end.

Hi I would only use ZF lifeguard 6, because its never a good idea mixing oils. would only buy genuine ZF aswell, aftermarket filters allways seem to leak. Genuine kit comes with oil, filter, new pins with larger heads and new mecha sleeve, which were prone to leaking on the electric connector. when you change the oil, only about 6 litres drains out of the box, about 4 to 5 litres stays in the torque converter. never known any body have any issues with using zf lifeguard 6, but a lot of people who use a different brand seem to get problems also, when changing the oil, ideally you should clear the gearbox adaptations, so the gearbox learns how to shift again and you get smoother shift, sometimes putting fresh, slightly thicker oil in, can make the gear changes quite harsh, also reseting the adaptations can only be done with software like Jaguar ids/sdd and some icarsofts, disconnecting the battery does nothing. Adaptation reset is allways done if the service is done at jaguar. also if your getting harsh shifts, if the gearbox has never been updated, software update can cure this, last update was 2009, my car was a 2004 and had its original 2004 software, updating mine cured the surging/hunting when it was cold at around 30 to 40 mph. cheers Joe
