JustSomeGuy started following Andy bracket testing
-
Andy was a Jaguar engineer and set the specs for the engine. However, the wheels made him set the cps to an engine that was run iirc for 24 hours. the bracket puts the cps where it should have been originally. he’s still around if you search for him

I've got a genuine set 4of used red centre caps but being boring and old i want a genuine black set straight swap or I'll buy. I don't want the cheap knock off import items . Original red are on left

It does take time for the refrigerant to cycle through the system cooling as it goes, yes. You may be a little low on refrigerant or perhaps the pollen filter is blocked, both of which will slow things down. Also if your TXV (Thermal Expansion Valve) is blocked or lazy this will slow things down further. However the work required to change the TXV is a lot so you'd have to consider the possible gains against doing the job. When i was working on brand new cars 30 years ago, the usual figure was at least 10 minutes before the AC started "pulling down" - that's in the UK so in the warmth of Sri Lanka, i'd expect another 5-10 minutes. The AC hasn't worked in my S Type since getting it so i can't offer a comparative figure but hoping to get it sorted fairly soon.
-
Hello sir , I'm in Sri Lanka. This is my first Jaguar. I've had Mercedes before. Never encountered such a delay before. So basically, what you're saying is that its normal ?

To be honest, 15-20 mminutes doesn't sound too bad. What part of the world are you in? If it's a hot climate, it could reasonably take longer than normal.

Hi my 2001 S type 3.0 doesn't blow cold AC until 15-20 minutes after engine starts from cold. I've noticed this in the morning and if I leave the car off for more than 4-5 hours. Once the AC starts blowing cold, its very effective. I checked refrigerant level and also extracted the old refrigerant and re introduced with new oil. Still the problem persists. It's usually not an issue in the morning. But its a damn nuisance if I park it in the sun for several hours and start again. What can be the issue?

Hi Dawud. Wow, that is a LOT of issues! My first thought is if you bought from a dealer, go straight back and start quoting sale of goods act. If it was a private sale I would be looking for an auto-electrican with Jag experience. I did a quick search and based on your profile location you might give these guys a call: https://autotektuning.co.uk/ On the cambelt it is needed ASAP but I would want to make sure the electrics were sorted first before I fork out several hundred for a cambelt change. Good luck John

Hi. I have just returned from the states and brought my F type with me. Its a 2014 V8S. There was no need to change the headlights as there's a setting for LHD or RHD by accessing the settings function on the dash. There are instructions in the owners manual. Hope this helps.

Hello guys, hope all of you are well. I've just picked up a new (to me) 2012 Jaguar XF X250 Luxury Sportbrake this week. Im liking it so far, however it has a few issues which I would like to ask for assistance/guidance from fellow owners and members. Issues : 1) Radio/audio button is greyed out, there is no sound at all 2) Satnav does not work, just stays on black screen and says initialising 3) Reverse camera does not load either, just stays on black screen. Parking sensors do work though, just not the camera. 4) Bluetooth does not work at all either I have scanned using an Autel AP200, and have attached the report for the fault codes for you guys to take a look at and offer any suggestions. Also, the car has covered 135000 miles, and has never had a Cambelt change. When should I look into doing this? Thanks for taking the time to read my post, I look forward to your responses. Adaptive headlight replacement
LairdScooby replied to mizonra's topic in XK / XKR (X150) 2006 - 2014
Are your headlamps LED or HID? If neither you could probably get away with non-adaptive (as a general rule of thumb) but i would anticipate lots of error messages and potential MoT (or Spansih equivalent) failures. -
Hi Alex I would expect you to be getting DTC codes if you are getting dashboard error messages It is possible you need Jag specific software. Have you checked the Fuel Pump Driver Module? Also I would re-check the need to recode a new fuel pump as Gemini (AI search) suggests it is needed. This might also help if you have not already found it. http://www.jagrepair.com/images/Electrical/XFWorkshopManual/Fuel System.pdf Good luck John

Thank you all for your help and advice! I have managed to get into the boot via the ‘secret’ keyhole!

Hi First post on here. Have a 2008 model lhd xk 150 convertible with adaptive headlights. The lights are uk spec and in their infinite wisdom the Spanish have decided ( after 5 years) that they are no longer acceptable. Can I replace with non adaptive versions as they are much easier to source or will I be bombarded with error messages. Thanks

Hi John, I've already cleaned the socket and main plug, removed small black plugs and hard wired them as recommended by Jag's technical bulletin JTB00301NAS1 from March 2014 (attached). The issue is not just that the fuel gauge reads low, its that the dash shows "Fuel pump system error" as well and has done with two different fuel pumps. I did look into the coding but according to JLR it's not a part that requires coding to the ecu or bcm. I've spent all evening looking at wiring schematics and I think I've gone a little cross eyed trying to figure this out JTB00301NAS1 - Fuel Gauge Operation.pdf

XF RS rear bumper defuser wanted

Hi Nanak https://www.vehiclerevolution.com/products/jaguar-xf-xfr-xfrs-rear-diffuser-black-abs-plastic-2008-2015 or think you need both of the below..... https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-C2Z16212--SelectedCurrency-1 https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-C2Z16211 Regards John -
Hi Alex Have you looked for any stored error codes since the original problem? Only other thing that I can think of is that the replacement pump needs to be paired or coded to the car. Maybe this will help with the fuel gauge issue: Regards John

Fuel filter?

Hi All, I'm at my wits end with this issue, I've had an odd issue in that when the car was on idle for a while or in very slow moving traffic I'd lose power almost completely and barely be able to pull away. After getting up to speed (eventually) the problem would go away, I thought it might be the pump in the tank as that died and the engine stopped but there were no errors on the dash or codes to read. I found there were a couple of corroded connections on the plug which I cleaned and repaired and that got the pump running again but it didn't seem to be moving fuel so I replaced the pump and managed to get the engine started and running again but now I get a fuel pump system fault on the dash. I've checked the pump, applied the fix from the official jag bulletin about the small black plugs failing and still getting the error although the car starts and runs. I've metered the sensors in the tank and they seem to be reading correctly as far as I can tell. I can hear the pump running to prime and when the engine is running but I still get the error and the fuel gauge showing empty. I'm concerned the in tank pump will cut out again as it has done once since it was replaced leaving us standing on the side of the motorway in the rain waiting for the RAC. My next guess would be a broken or frayed wire somewhere but from what I can tell the cable disappears through the rear bulkhead into the boot. I thought I'd ask for some advice before I start dismantling the car completely looking for a broken wire. an help would be greatly apreciated Alex

Have a look here; https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/interior-rear-view-mirror-13104/jaguar/xk/xk-8-convertible-qdv

Hi, I am now the proud owner of a 1998 (yes, that's right) beautiful XKR 4.0 convertible but the rear view mirror is so degraded it is useless. There are lots of 2nd hand rear view mirrors on Ebay for later models, but none for 1996-1998 models. My question is, does the specific year matter or are these mirrors reasonably interchangeable?
