EVening Jimbov8 / N6JMS / Big John Thanks to you all for your helpful replies. The end result i wanted was to keep my perfect condition Teardrop wheels at all cost. After several days trawling the web it all came down to a big Zero. However I eventually searched the correct size AVON Turbo Speed 200/65/390 used but having 5-6mm left on them. So All well that ends well. Thanks again to all

Radio fuse just can't find it
Jimbov8 replied to Stevenrpwest's topic in XK / XKR (X150) 2006 - 2014
Hi Steven, remove fuses F4 10A, F21 15A and F31 30A, all in the auxiliary junction which is located between the rear seats. Make sure the radio is switched off on the panel first. -

Radio fuse just can't find it

There are a few on here that know the XK electrical system pretty well, sure one of them will be along soon to help out. Welcome to the club too! -
Hello, all, i'm looking for the radio fuse on my 2007 jaguar xk. I just can't seem to get a straight answer from the internet. I just want to kill the power to it so I can reset it without having to disconnect my battery. I have been told it's in the passenger foot bay compartment but I can't find one listed radio. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Hi Paul, 2011 3.0ltr D. My local garage fitted a new cambelt, tensioners, water pump and serpentine belt last September at almost 100,000 mies for £950 including the ridiculous amount of VAT. My local garage are 100% honest and trustworthy and have looked after me and my Jaguars since moving here 5 years ago. Supertrev. .

Locate and check the headlight earth connection is sound. One light failing is more likely to be an earthing issue than a BCM issue. N6 JMX

Quick google brought up this: Faulty Headlight Assembly Component A bad bulb, ballast, or internal wiring/control module can cause intermittent operation. Start by replacing the bulb and checking the ballast. Wiring Harness Issue Corrosion or damage in the wiring connecting the headlight to the BCM can cause data/power loss. Inspect the full length of the harness for damage. BCM Entering Protection Mode If the BCM detects repeated short circuits, it disables the output to protect itself (U1000-00 code). The short must be repaired, and the BCM may need a specialist software fix or replacement. Failing BCM Unit A failing BCM can cause various erratic electrical issues, including lighting problems. This is often due to water damage or voltage spikes.

Put all the windows down and then spray silicone lube spray into the top of the window channels for a few seconds, preferably using one of those long spouts. Only spray onto the vertical/near vertical parts of the window channels. Once all sprayed, start the car (to avoid flattening the battery) and exrecise all windows up and down several times. Not sure if you have Toolstation in Eire but this is the sort of stuff : https://www.toolstation.com/action-can-sp-90-silicone-lubricant/p34151 It's also good for spraying on door seals, leave to soak and then gently wipe off the excess to help prevent the door seal freezing to the doors in cold weather.

Friend of mine had this on a Merc recently, turned out to be throttle switch giving a false idle situation to the ECU - might be worth looking at. The logic behind it was you don't want the engine revving when you're meant to be at idle or braking etc.

Hi I have a 2011 xf, been no bother till now! had a parking sensor go off and the car would just shut its self off while driving,, , got the sensor fix but the car is still shutting it’s self off occasionally. Been back to the garage and they can’t find any thing wrong! Don’t know where to go from here as very stressful while driving.. been out yesterday and done 35 miles and all ok, but today done 10 miles and it cut out everything stops but started up straight away? Any help would be appreciated?

Hi Russ, you definitely need the 2 x moveable hatches to be in place to keep everything working as it should. As you probably realise, the hatches retract and return under a spring damper action, where the dampers are connected by the cords - which can fail. I don't know if you are a member of the JEC and can therefore access the back copies of the JE magazine via the JEC website (currently under reconstruction) but there is an article in the May 2023 Modern XK column, which highlights the problem and it's repair solution. If you don't have the ability to access these back issues, then send me a PM via this site with an email address for yourself and I can send you PDF copies of the article. N6 JMX

Hello John, thanks for your reply, l am going to call into my local garage for a diagnostics result, just took the car there for the MOT seems a decent bloke, see how that goes, strange about the radio though, usually manage through trial and error to fix small issues as they arise, but as you say, l need to pinpoint the cause or just keep throwing money at maybe faults. Took the car to an independent jag specialist in Milton Keynes once for a problem, very good very reasonable but a fair distance away, could be another visit there l think! Thanks again John.

Hi, my 2008 convertible is quite noisy in the cabin and from the outside - on both sides - there is the gap (pictured) and from within I can see daylight. I guess this is where the cabin noise comes from. Added to that, when the roof is down the two panels (pictured) are not fitted. I guess this may cause the gaps. I have both panels, but have no idea how they fit. Both drawer cords are snapped and when I tried to loose fit them they started to crush when closing the roof. I'm stumped. Can anyone assist please ?

Having worked most of my life in electrical/electronic engineering, I can confirm there is nothing more frustrating than having to write on the job sheet "NFFAT" - No Fault Found At Test. Over the decades ive had many "Intermittently Intermittent" faults as i call them. Sometimes it's has been a long and extremely annoying process to find the fault and often when i do, i find it's a "Compound Intermittent Fault" - one where two or more problems contribute to not only the intermittent fault but the overall intermittency of it occurring in the first place. I wish you and your autoelectrician luck with finding it, you may have to lose this battle to win the war and come to an arrangement with him whereby he comes to you when it faults to investigate. This isn't just a "Jag thing", it happens to all makes and some are much worse than others! 'Tis the nature of the beast with electrical/electronic systems sadly.

Hi Syd. When my camera / sensors failed it came up as offside front sensor, but was actually the front bumper wiring loom with the issue feeding that sensor. Do you have any codes? These are pretty vital to help sort issues otherwise you end up "throwing" solutions at the problem hoping that one will eventually sort it. The camera and sensors work as a whole so if a sensor is not reading correctly, the whole system shuts down to let you know you are on your own. I think the tailgate loom switch only works when it is just the camera which is not working. My guess would be the camera and radio are probably unrelated. Good lluck John

This might be a solution for you but you'd need to get the right one for your car : Obviously yours is newer and the "updated" S Type but there should be a bespoke kit for yours.
