  3. Good point, cheers, love the look but costing fortune on rims. Hopefully ride stay as good.
  4. I was going to say the same as Jim but was preparing dinner. Worth checking your brakes before any decisions on wheels i reckon.
  5. Cheers, was looking at 18 i think, not sure about brakes? Thank you.
  6. I've just purchased my first XF 2010 and, whilst I'm very happy so far, I'm not happy with tyre pressure sensors giving me period warnings. I know they're a safety issue but I am OCD about tyre pressures and I can live without the monitoring. Is there an easy way to disable the monitoring system?
  7. 18-inch with the higher profile sidewall tyre will offer maximum protection and comfort - if that is what you are after. Presumably on a diesel you will not have the premium brakes, which subsequently require a larger diameter wheel to clear the front calliper. Usually a good selection of original fit wheels for sale on the JEC Classifieds website, although a quick check shows nothing in 18" or 19" at the moment. N6 JMX
  8. I have recently purchased an xj350 2.7 d, it has 20 inch low profiles on. These look great but with the state of the roads I have had 2 damaged rims, requiring welding. I am trying to decide on 18 or 19 inch wheels now. Could anyone please give any advice. Many thanks.
  9. My 2008 Jaguar XK 4.2 V8 Coupe has covered 167,755 miles, but still drives like a dream, and in December went through a full service and MOT. It has the 20" Senta alloys, paired with premium Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres fitted in late 2023. The engine still runs perfectly and the suspension feels in great shape too. The interior is clean and comfortable, with wear to the leather consistent with the mileage. This car has been maintained regardless of cost, with significant preventative maintenance carried out: - Dec 2025 (Current): Fresh MOT and Full Service just completed, with EGR Valve and coolant tank replaced. - Feb 2025: Renewed both rear brake discs + brake pads + brake calipers. - Dec 2024: Full Service including brake & fluid change. - Dec 2023: Renewed rear driver’s side suspension rod. - Nov 2023: Full Service + fitted 3x Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2 premium tyres + had full 4-wheel alignment carried out + renewed rear right stabiliser link. - Sep 2019: Massive overhaul addressing common big-ticket items. This included new front lower control arms ("banana arms"), rear upper wishbones, O/S/R lower wishbone, new alternator, engine mounts, and rear brake discs/pads. I wish I could keep this car, to be frank, but I need something more practical now to start a family. You will be very happy with it! Notes: - As is common with the split-rim Senta alloys, the rims are showing lacquer peel/cosmetic corrosion (see photos). They are structurally completely sound, though - The headliner adhesive is no longer holding, so it's now secured with same-color pins. ------------------ PRICE: £4,950 LOCATION: Guildford, Surrey CONTACT: Message on here and we can arrange a viewing and/or test drive!

  11. I wonder if by adding the lights he's inadvertently fixed the fault? He should know what i mean by that. Also, i'd suggest selling the Merc and buying a Honda if you want reliability. A friend of mine does a lot of work for a Merc indy, just as something to keep him busy in his early retirement and they have a lot of electrical faults. I know Jags have their fair amount but to be honest, less than most other brands.
  12. Hi & Happy New Year Auto-electrician has wired up two lights from either side of starter relay under the fuse box and asked me to let him know which light doesn’t light up if or when the car fails to turnover, but it has started every time I have tried to start car since getting it back from the garage 🥴 All I can do is keep trying but I have bought a Mercedes so that I have a couple of cars that I can rely on. Sad to say, but I will be selling the XJL as soon as it is fixed 😥

  14. Engine options in the XE are: 2.0, 4 cylinder Ingenium diesel (in various power outputs) 2.0, 4 cylinder petrol (early cars used a Ford engine, then a 2.0 Ingenium was used), again in a variety of power outputs. 3.0 V6 Supercharged petrol engine on the 'S' models, 340ps initially, then uprated to 380ps. There isn't a 2.2 engine available in the XE. Personally, petrol all day long for low mileage use.
  15. Petrol - it warms up quicker and won't cause you DPF or similar expensive problems. Also the larger the engine in a car that size, the less it has to work hard so better fuel economy as a general rule od thumb. Obviously if you go for a 5.0V8 supercharged then economy won't be as good. Whatever you go for, make sure to give it one long high speed (motorway) run every so often to help keep things cleared out.
  16. Which is best engine on an xe for occasional low milage use a 2litre or 2.2litre. I am looking to buy a 2016ish model.
  17. Welcome aboard! Try the CKP - Crank Position Sensor - these won't give a fault code but will cause a non-start. They also usually fail suddenly. Had that happen on my S Type a couple of years back, fitted a new one on a hunch and fired up immediately. Not sure where in the world you are but give Rock Auto a try in the USA, it's a fiddly job but doesn't take too long.
  18. Hi, New member here! My 2002 x-type 2.5 petrol, purchased new and with only 80k mi, is not starting. The car was in storage on a battery tender for the past month. Initially after taking it out of storage the car started and ran for ~30mins but after shutting it off, it would not restart. - Battery, alternator, & starter are all good (confirmed with local shop) - No error codes It feels like an ECM issue, any suggestions? Best, Sean
  19. Thanks for letting us know and glad you got it sorted! 👍
  20. Dear Friends, I finally managed to track down the problem. It was actually two issues , the exterior temperature sensor and AC compressor clutch which my mechanic found was "weak". After replacing both, the AC starts cooling within 2-3 minutes and does a good job even after parked in the hot sun.
  21. An odd problem. My XJ L has electric door window blinds fitted. The rear passenger nearside one goes up but then immediately goes down. Any suggestions.
  22. Hi. Now getting the boot isnt locked (when it is) problem and also battery low turn on engine sign. Tried leaving battery disconnected/reconnected. I am not a mechanic - so bear with me when I say I cannot find the coolant temp sensor location on my 2019 2.0 diesel. Ive also seen and lost 🙈some advice on taking an ECU fuse out to hard reset in case its a software/ECU thing. Any help well received. Great forum.
  23. Have you tried the spare key?
  24. My X type 2.2 diesel starts ok off the key, but only runs for about 3 to 4 seconds and stops. Reluctant to start after that but once started again it only runs for a short time and stops again. The longer that you leave it, ie couple of days, the easier it starts but then stops. Any advice welcomed. Thanks. Peter.
  25. It might be your sat-nag needs updating, usually a service item at a Jag dealers but some haven't had it done. Not sure if there's a way of DIY updating, someone who knows better than me will hopefully be along soon.
