  4. The contacts inside the key fob are quite fragile, make sure they are not damaged after your replacement battery fit, and in good contact with the battery faces. N6 JMX

  8. Thanks, guys, between you, you have given me more confidence to tackle the Job. I have used the fishing line trick before when we had to create large graphics for our exhibition stands, but we were dealing with freshly applied double-sided tape, not hard 14-year-old tape. As a keen Carp angler, there is no shortage of fishing line in my house. The heat solution had never occurred to me; it just shows that many heads are better than one. I tend to use Nail varnish remover (acetone) as my solvent (any comments). In fact, I use it to remove tar and stubborn labels. I know it's car paint safe, as I have used it on Zero (the car) before Spyderromeo Zero is the car's name, as is its reg, as is my little company.

Add a description / location of what you are looking for and you may have more success.   14. You can also add some heat to the area with a hairdryer or heat gun, gently, so as to soften the backing tape. It is similar to the sticky back on the latest wheel balance weights. Tar remover and heat is a good solvent to remove the residue. N6 JMX
  15. Hey guys trying to find a part for a gentleman who has a 5.3L V12 XJS hes looking for EAC3042. Searched everywhere but cant seem to find any solutions. Not sure how svarce this particular part is nowadays, please bare with me as im not in the Classic Jag world as much as many of you guys here! Here in Portugal, Jaguar have told me that they no longer sell them, but I’d really appreciate it if someone could let me know where I might be able to buy a set.   18. Use a piece of dental floss or thin fishing line, slide it behind and then using a to and fro motion slowly proceed from one end to the other. You will cut through the backing without damaging the paintwork. Then use a mild solvent to remove the excess on the panel. Make sure you mark where the badge sits first.
  19. I posted about this before when enamel paint would not stick, and nail varnish was suggested. Well, before I tried the nail varnish, I found a new one at £1,59 on Temu, compared with what may have been an OEM part on eBay at £58.00, i.e. 36 times cheaper. So I bought a few and they are as near as I can tell, absolutely the same; they are good castings, good chrome, good colours and exactly the same size. So they look like a good replacement. Now my only problem is how to get the old ones, which are totally without original colour, off ! Anybody got any wonderful ideas? My initial reaction was to delicately nick away at the bond (which seems like a hard plastic, rather than a double-sided tape that is normal) it off using a scalpel. I know I would have to be very careful and mask off all around to prevent collateral damage. It seems it will need such care that I thought I would throw it open to all you wonderful experts to see if there are any other ideas? Spyderromero
  20. Hi David, lots of places will sell the aftermarket versions, but finding a decent set of the OEM black centre caps could be more testing. Try places like DCR AutoParts, who are a specialist Jaguar supplier based in Inverness, or one of the specialist Breakers such as Auto Reserve. Both easily located by a search engine, or come back here and I can post links for you. N6 JMX
  21. Thanks a lot for the explanation. I did top up the refrigerant and do full service including pollen filter change at the local jaguar dealership. Still the issue persist. But I suppose its normal then. Thanks gain.

  23. Andy was a Jaguar engineer and set the specs for the engine. However, the wheels made him set the cps to an engine that was run iirc for 24 hours. the bracket puts the cps where it should have been originally. he’s still around if you search for him
  24. I've got a genuine set 4of used red centre caps but being boring and old i want a genuine black set straight swap or I'll buy. I don't want the cheap knock off import items . Original red are on left
  25. It does take time for the refrigerant to cycle through the system cooling as it goes, yes. You may be a little low on refrigerant or perhaps the pollen filter is blocked, both of which will slow things down. Also if your TXV (Thermal Expansion Valve) is blocked or lazy this will slow things down further. However the work required to change the TXV is a lot so you'd have to consider the possible gains against doing the job. When i was working on brand new cars 30 years ago, the usual figure was at least 10 minutes before the AC started "pulling down" - that's in the UK so in the warmth of Sri Lanka, i'd expect another 5-10 minutes. The AC hasn't worked in my S Type since getting it so i can't offer a comparative figure but hoping to get it sorted fairly soon.

  27. To be honest, 15-20 mminutes doesn't sound too bad. What part of the world are you in? If it's a hot climate, it could reasonably take longer than normal.
  28. Hi my 2001 S type 3.0 doesn't blow cold AC until 15-20 minutes after engine starts from cold. I've noticed this in the morning and if I leave the car off for more than 4-5 hours. Once the AC starts blowing cold, its very effective. I checked refrigerant level and also extracted the old refrigerant and re introduced with new oil. Still the problem persists. It's usually not an issue in the morning. But its a damn nuisance if I park it in the sun for several hours and start again. What can be the issue?
  29. Hi Dawud. Wow, that is a LOT of issues! My first thought is if you bought from a dealer, go straight back and start quoting sale of goods act. If it was a private sale I would be looking for an auto-electrican with Jag experience. I did a quick search and based on your profile location you might give these guys a call: https://autotektuning.co.uk/ On the cambelt it is needed ASAP but I would want to make sure the electrics were sorted first before I fork out several hundred for a cambelt change.
