I just had this problem on my 2007 XJ. I had been away for a while and when I got back the engine turned over and started fine. However the error "cannot apply park brake" was showing. I also had a check engine warning. The battery was old so I purchased and installed a new one before getting to diagnose the problems. I started the car and the brake error message had changed to "press foot brake and engage parking brake" . When I did that the problem resolved. Also the check engine light was no longer showing. Seems to me from this experience that the cars electronics are very sensitive to the battery voltage. Maybe I should replace the battery more often.

Hi Craig, welcome to the Forum. Appreciate that Ardnamurchan is probably a long way from anywhere (I am in Banchory in Aberdeenshire so know the feeling) but there is a Jaguar Gathering - The Scottish Jaguar Enthusiasts' Day - being held at the Riverside Museum in Glasgow on Saturday the 28th of June 2025. Over 100 Jaguars and their owners on the esplanade of the Riverside Museum from all over Scotland and further afield - even have some coming from "down south". There's more information further down the Forum pages under "Events", but you can also send me a PM with your email address and I can provide more information. N6 JMX -

Or this forum doesn't show who actually responded or reacted to my posts, all it says is 'somebody'... Can't see who reacted neither? Another thing, when want to see new post in the thread, it always shows first post in the thread insread if the last unread, regadless if thread has 1 or 20 pages. Is there a way to change it? Or it will change with me earning points, badges as I go?

Afternoon everyone. My first time here. I'm Craig, I live in Ardnamurchan and have bought my 1st Jag after much debate, a 1998 XK8 (X100). I'm keen to see if there are any other members close by. By way of background, I had a strong family connection to Jaguar and it's Competition Shop / Experimental Dept, as well as JDHT.

**2001 Jaguar X-Type 2.5 V6 SE Automatic - Low Mileage | Twin Tow Bar | Modern Classic** This rare early Y-reg Jaguar X-Type 2.5 V6 SE Automatic has just 67,000 miles on the clock and is a superb example of a modern classic with great potential. It's smooth, mechanically sound, and well cared for perfect as a characterful daily driver, weekend cruiser, or light restoration project. Under the bonnet is a silky-smooth V6 engine that starts first time and runs beautifully. It's had a recent oil change, new air filter, and a new battery. The original automatic gearbox was replaced with a unit from a 2008 model, improving drive quality and long-term reliability. A twin electric tow bar was professionally fitted less than five years ago and used lightly to tow a small caravan for one year always within the car's capabilities. The car is currently SORN and hasn't been on the road since its last MOT expired in September 2023. Up to that point, it consistently passed its MOTs and has been regularly started and maintained during this off-road period. Inside, everything works as it should electric windows, lights, and the original Jaguar cassette stereo. The interior is clean and complete, with some tasteful trim upgrades (original parts included for purists). A full-size spare wheel is also included. Cosmetically, it's in fair condition for its age with some marks, paint blemishes, and a few age-related quirks (e.g. bonnet release cable and coolant reservoir would benefit from minor attention). Main cosmetic damage photographed. It presents well and drives even better. Highlights: Just 67,000 miles Strong, smooth-running V6 engine Replacement 2008 gearbox Professionally fitted twin electric tow bar Recently serviced - oil, filter, and battery Interior upgrades (original parts included) Full service history up to 2022 Walkaround video available on request Originally owned by an elderly lady in the South of England, this Jaguar was kept garaged and carefully driven. I've owned it since 33,000 miles and maintained it with care, including regular oil changes even when not in frequent use. A solid, low-mileage example of a future classic with comfort, character, and plenty of life left in it. Ideal for the enthusiast, collector, or anyone wanting something unique, reliable, and unmistakably British. IMG_4558.mov

Have just replaced the tyre repair kit with a space saver after coming across a very helpful thread on this forum, so decided to join.

Hi everyone, after my old car got written off last year, my wife and son convinced me to get this XF X260:

I just joined this forum to specifically thank the op of this thread. Was in the same situation as having the tyre repair kit which was a much use as a chocolate tea pot when I had a blow out last year on a remote road in West Wales. Will spare you the details, but after coming across this thread whilst searching the internet, I can confirm all the parts mentioned are correct. I even checked with my nearby dealer to get a quote. They quoted £1500 for everything. Thanks to ebay and this thread, I got everything for less than half of the dealer quote. Just to add to the details of the load floor upper, the part number mentioned by Jaguar is T2H15351PVJ and this came on the packaging. When I went to buy this on ebay, there were 2 items advertised, however only one of them had the GX63-47022-AE number on it. The cheaper one had the number for the tyre repair kit version which I could just make out on the ebay pics. The seller I bought from specialises in JLR parts and even confirmed the carpet would fit after supplying my VIN.
