So I'm told that my dead battery is down to a faulty alternator that is giving out between 12.5 and 15.0 V. I therefore plan to replace it but is it straightforward? Hope you can help guys...!

Disconnect battery first. Two connections. Fead belt.2-3 bolts.etc. Fairly tight space to work in. Message from hubby. The air might be blue.

I replaced the dynamo on a Triumph Herald in 1968.  That was quite easy.

Since then jobs like that have been avoided  --  having a company car for 30 years helped somewhat.

I'm guessing that the voltage range does mean that the old unit is u/s? Are there any special tools needed? Is there just one type of replacement unit or many? Cheers guys...
