Gear box fault

Featured Replies

Hello everybody new Jag owner here,i have bought an SType 2.5 v6 se 53 plate.Got her in April and love it,but on Saturday the message read gearbox fault and she drove like a clutch was slipping(it is a auto),stopped turned engine off and then it was fine.Started up today and same fault occurred so turned off immediately and on restart no problem.Do I have any concerns about this? Look forward to any help thankyou in advance.

Welcome to the Club, David.

I am not a mechanical expert, so I would suggest that you look for an independent Jaguar Garage to diagnose the issue rather than go to a main dealer who have been known to overcharge a bit.

But there might be someone who has experience the same problem and could offer their advice.

Regards,

Peter.

Good advice Peter.

Plug in a code reader to get the fault code,it could be a number of things and because these cars need fully charged battery (even though the car will start)that would be the first place i would look.

Do you know how old the battery is and what charge it is pushing out?

I also believe the wiring loom behind the front bumper can perish, causing problems, but not sure if it is applicable to this year.

It might be best to investigate rather than leave it.
