Hi I have a handbrake fault light on my 2007 S type jaguar. I have disconnected the battery and the light went out. A couple of weeks later and the light is back on. Has anyone got any ideas please ?

Regards. Barry.

Your handbrake has a simple switch on it which makes or breaks contact depending on if the handbrake is on or off.. It may be worth using a meter to check the switch - my gut feeling though is it is more liklely your brake fluid that is low or another braking problem

I'm not au fait with Jaguars yet, but in my old Nissans the brake light would often come on when the brake fluid was low, and that would often be because the pads were close to minimum and needed changing.

Welcome to the Club, Barry.

My S type handbrake has stuck twice.  Disconnecting the battery did the job both times, but I did check the fluid.

I had the feeling that a previous owner was not in the habit of using it, but leaving the car in Park mode.

Regards,

Peter.
