New to Group just picked up a 2003 X type diesel sport with parking sensors not connected to box in boot. Have plugged it in and get a long beep when i put into reverse but sensors don't sense anything. light above head lights up but again does not sense anything any ideas that an idiot can try lol

cheers

Welcome to the Club, Craig.

I think that the reason the parking sensors were not plugged in was simply that they were not working.  They cost about £15/20 each, and if you can find which one is faulty it will save you a few shillings.

The other scenario is that the sensor module is not working.

There are two options. The first is to replace them. the second is to unplug them and reverse like you did before sensors were invented.  A tow bar does take some of the impact!

It would be worth trying to find out which sensor is not working properly  ---  try a good independent Jaguar specialist, or a good mechanic with the diagnostic equipment.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Peter.
