Purely interested (dont want to lose licence!) does anyone know the top speed of Jag XJ 5.0  V8 (non supercharged) without limiter please?  Cant find on web!

Hi Scott,

I have looked around and can't find that information, just the limited speed.  It might be found on one of the review sites --  I will have a look and get back to you.

Not sure how reliable it is but found reference to 180 mph unlimited but also that car with limiter is still pulling at 165! Still I don't expect to validate this myself anytime soon!

Hi Scott,

I have found that on a later XJ model the limiter allows 174 mph, and also that the 5.0 litre F Type can reach 195 mph.

I have looked at some other sites and randomly have found that the XJ's kerb weight at 1700 kilos is quite a but lower than the kerb weight  on my S Type.

174!  I don't think I will try that on the new managed motorway camera fest that is the M62...

On the Sutton Coldfield bypass [A38] a motorcyclist was caught by an hand held speed camera, and the Magistrates sent him for a Psychiatric assessment!

There is a time and place for everything, and they determined that it wasn't the A38 but rather Donnington Park.
