Hi all,

New member (go easy :).

My rear parking sensors worked fine all summer, unless the car was washed and then they went completely random.

Now the weather has turned they are very hit and miss, even when they sound ok I don't trust them.

I know it's obviously a water issue, but how easy a fix are they? And if its just one dodgy one is it easy to track which one is faulty?

Not the end of the world if they don't work, but Mrs C. uses the car now and again.......!

Paul, it is quite easy to find a faulty sensor, it will take two off you one to sit in the car and place the car in reverse obviously remembering to keep her/his hoot on the brake pedal or safer still handbrake on. Kneel to each sensor one at a time and you should hear clicking if you note one is not giving out a clicking noise then this should be the offending sensor which  will be more than likely faulty. By the way if one sensor is faulty then the reverse parking aid should not work due to the fact they work on a daisy chain resistance basis so if one fails it will not allow the others to work. You should also ensure the electronic box is water tight, good idea to wrap in a plastic bag and seal with a small cable tie

Hi I am also having issues with the reverse sensors, and this happened after i washed it. As soon as the key is put in the igniton i get a continual bleep, and thats before reverse is selected. I will try listening for the clicking.

Thanks

Andy

I too have had problems with my parking sensors on my estate which never worked since purchase, however after a new rear end due to a shunt I assume with the new bits they would now work , alas no but was advised to change the ECU which I have but still not working before taking the car to a auto electrician any suggestions?

Thanks,

Rodney.

Welcome to the club, Rodney.

Possibly the parking sensor unit itself is faulty, rather than the ECU.

There is topic in the Jaguar Owners Lounge Forum which lists recommended Independent Garages which tend to be cheaper and better than the main dealers.

There is a Jaguar specialist in Doncaster which is highly thought of.

Regards,

Peter.

Welcome to the club, Billy.

There are lots of experiences to share. which is very useful.

The most difficult thing with parking sensors is finding which one it is.

Peter.
