Hi  chaps , my orange engine management symbol came on today for the first time, was wondering what to do about it.Any help is more than welcome?Car is S Type 2.5 se 2004.

Hi David,

Have you got a OBD2 code reader?  It will tell you the code number and then you can find out exactly what engine malfunction it is.

I got one from BV electronics - cost £20. [via eBay]

If you have a friendly mechanic/garage they will do a diagnostic check for you. Main Dealers will also do a check for about £70, as it only takes a few minutes --- they are too expensive for me!

Let us know how you get on.

Peter.

Went for a drive today and the light went out??

Hi David,

Sometimes a good blast cures whatever it is. My diesel gets it when the EGR valves get sticky.

Regards,

Peter.

PS-  The S type 2.5 petrol also has EGR Valves.  I would still get the OBD2 code reader.
