Car does not get used much but just over a week ago it developed a misfire after a trouble free 200 mile trip

Engine management light is on, restricted performance message flashing

Car did have a drained battery prior to the journey and is showing as fully charged now after two days on a trickle charger

I
do not have access to a fault code reader so any suggestions - not sure
on age of the plugs so I thought I would start with swapping them and I
have a spare coil that I'd thought I'd try after changing each plug

Could a failing battery possibly cause a misfire?

Hi Andrew

A battery thats loosing its charge after just standing a week sounds as though it needs replacing .??

I'm saying that because things do start to shut down on a Jaguar if the battery is faulty and if you

replace it make sure to get the correct size for the car .??

I think you will find the misfire will be a plug so if you  do check them I would fit new to make sure.??

Peter has a S Type and will pehaps have a better answer for you.??

All the best with it.

Cheers, the battery went flat as I was working on the car all day (cleaning) and had the doors open and radio open - guaranteed battery flatteners

Think I will replace the plugs as I have no idea of how old they are - been recommended an iCarsoft i930 fault code reader that will be bought if theres no cure to try and identify the problem
