Well....I finally did it! After years of yearning I have bought my dream car. A jaguar s type 3 litre se in British racing green. Sorry if I sound over excited but it is a big thing for me.

I have sourced a decent private plate and the car is well serviced with 77k on the clock.

My only question is..how robust is the 5 speed auto box? I have heard a few stories about them breaking after 60k.

Scott

HI Scott and welcome to the club.

I have not heard anything bad about the 5 speed gearbox,  and your car looks to have been treated gently.

Some members have replaced the gearbox oil at around 75k miles, but there are some very good gearbox specialists around who will offer sound advice.

Mackies transmission in Scotland are a very club friendly company and I am sure that if you have a problem a 'phone call will be all that is needed for some advice.

Regards,

Peter.
