Jaguar X-Type SE DCI 2005

Featured Replies

I have recently obtained my first jaguar, and there are somethings I would like to learn about, please:

1/. When sitting in the vehicle, with no ignition, there is a buzzing sound, could some expound as to the cause, please?

2/. After starting, and then turning the steering wheel, it makes a whining sound, is this normal?

3/. Is there any way to get the jaguar bluetooth module fitted, please?

Other than these things, I am enjoying the drive, there does not seem to be any issues at all.

Regards

Shaun

It seems that the whining noise meant that the steering pump and belt needed replacing. So getting them replaced.

Hi Shaun,

i have wondered about the buzzing noise but at the moment cannot hazard a guess.  When I see my son's x type I will see if that is doing something like that.

The whining noise you have sorted.

The Bluetooth module can be retrofitted, and there are several members who will advise.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi, I have further questions :)

Thank you for your reply, Peter.

Which oil is the best oil for the x-type? I read somewhere that castrol edge is a good option.

Regards

Shaun

Hi Shaun,

Jaguar advise that oil should be 5W - 30 viscosity should be used, and recommends Castrol.

Castro Magnatec is supposed to last 20k, and there are also oils of similar quality from other suppliers. --  Esso, shell etc.

It is worth having a look at Opie Oils website.  They are a major online supplier and will also give you a good price.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi again,

Do diesel additives work for cleaning out engines and if so, which one is best?

Kind regards

Shaun

Hi Shaun,

I use Wynns engine clean occasionally -  they recommend every 3000 miles.  Redex I believe is good also.

I have also had the terraclean service on my car, which is worth the money.

When my EGR valves [two on the s type] warning come up [Code P0402]  I either give the car a good blast on the A38, or use a can of Wynns EGR Diesel cleaner.

Regards,

Peter.
