Hi all, looking for any info onhow too get rid of the wind noise on my 2007/8 S Type, I assume this is caused by the door seal rubbers losing their flexibility/softness over the years. My question is! Are there any proven products on the market that will in some way rejuvenate the elasticity of the seals? Rather try the cheaper option first before looking at renewing all the seals. Cheers all

Hi Ian,

I always try the cheapest option, as becomes a Lancastrian.  A bucket of quite warm water and some shampoo  or similar will clean the seals and should get rid of the noise.  It also seemed to keep the seals flexible, too.

Regards,

Peter.

Silicon grease available from the like of Maplins revitalises the rubber seals bringing them back to life. I have used it on my convertibles for years.

Cheers Peter, Kenny for the info, will get the cleaning gear out today in the first instance, then a trip to Stockport for the Silicon grease whilst this beautiful SUNNY day is with us. Regards, Ian

That sounds a very good product, Kenny.

Years of having a company car changed every year or so made me forget about issues such as  seals and similar.

I don't envy your trip into Stockport, Ian.  I used to know the area well but got quite lost last time I was there.

I will try the car accessary shop a short distance away.

Peter.

Thanks for the info Jim, viewed the videos with interest. Been trying for ages to actually pinpoint which seal is failing on my car, come to the conclusion it's all of them, so I await your update when i hope you will have some good news. Regards Ian

Cheers Jim, have mine washed every week by the local pressure washer  brigade and to date no water ingress and all seals appear dry. To be honest there  seems to be a lot of noise emanating  from the front of the car,  no whistling.Might invest in a smoke pressure test, just kidding. Mirror seals all look OK, but this will be further investigated when it gets a little warmer, the drivers door seal has suffered the normal wear as one would expect as this is the most used and will be renewed. Regards Ian

Jim please rest assured I won't leave a single stone unturned. Since Christmas  i have spent just under £2000 on having servo, vacuum pump, discs and pads ×4, tracking ×4, nitro fill and balancing. I, like yourself like to keep their charges in tip top condition (even if it means selling my other Kidney) I will of course keep you informed of the coarse of action, because this is really peeing me off. Regards Ian
