X-Type Will Not Start

Featured Replies

Drove the car (2005 X-Type) all morning and parked it for 5 hours came back and I was unable to start my car. I was able to unlock it, all the lights turned on in the cabin, and all the displays turned on but when I went to start the car it would not turn over. No clicking or any noises came from motor, I'm worried because the mileage was not displayed it was just ----- all across. I called local dealership and the proposed it was a dead battery?

Welcome to the Club, Ashaunte.

Jaguars and most other modern cars have so much electrical equipment that a fully functional battery is important.

I think the local dealership was correct inter diagnosis.

Regards,

Peter.

Just found out that my battery is working fine, could this be an alternator problem?

Ashaunte

Hi Ashaunte --If your battery's OK and at full charge and when you turn the key and there

isn't a click or anything I would think its the starter solenoid but first check the small wire

hasn't come off the solenoid as that's the one that trips the starter .

You will find the solenoid on the side of the starter.
