Just had new egr valves and dpf fitted (2006 s type sport 2.7 diesel ) 2 weeks ago and now the car catches on speed humps when more than one person in it ( we not that fat ),been back to garage and had it on lift and the dpf is as high as it goes but still hangs fairly low , and its the same dimensions as the old dpf , so garage and i a bit confused  as i tow a caravan with it and dont know how much damage may occur with the extra weight on the back would lifting the rear suspension help or fitting spring assistors.

very confused!!!

Hi Paul,

I used to tow a caravan and know this problem about "grounding".  There are other members of the club who do two with s types without grounding problems.

The s type is quite a low car, and even so, some owners have lowered it further, which could be the case in your car.

I would be inclined to get the suspension lifted a couple of inches, and when this light drizzle has stopped, I will check how high off the ground my S Type SE is.

Regards,

Peter.

P.S. Drizzle stopped and a quick measurement from the bottom of the sills feeling for the lowest point is 15cm front and rear. I have 18" wheels on my cars with ordinary tyres.

thanks peter , Do you happen to know if there is a kit to raise the rear suspension. or how

easy t is to do ..

regards

paul

Hi Paul,

I saw on TV  suspension being raised by changing the suspension springs.  Unless you could do that job yourself I guess you would need a garage with the tools to do it.

Not being a engineer  [I trained as an accountant] I can usually find out what needs doing to solve a problem, but my training also taught me to get someone else to do it!

A good bet would be to talk to your local garage and see it a deal could be done.

Regards,

Peter.
