Hi all

Just a quick update, I have swapped out the old sensor but the pin won't move off the stop. Some times when I turn her on it will register a temperature but then slowly drop to the cold position

Any ideas please

Mike

Hi Mike,

I think the gauge needs replacing.

We had a Ford Escort  years ago which registered practically nothing even when the engine had been on for an hour, and we knew that the temperature must have been normal. A replacement was easy in those days, and we had normality in the instrumentation.

See what you can find in Ebay or somewhere similar.

Peter.

Try the sensor wire direct to earth see if the gauge moves?

Hi Michael.

You may be aware of this already or not but i thought i would mention it.

Did the gauge function before or have you not noticed. My 2.2D, and many other members, only shows movement on the gauge after a motorway trip or if i give it a bootfull to really make the engine hot. Even so it will then only go up to the first 1/4 line. In the colder weather the Diesel engine temp does not move much at all. Even so it will drop down again straight after.

This may not be the case for you but i thought i would mention it.

Hope you sort it.

Hi John

See you are in Hampshire Im in Ferndown and have a similar problem with the temp gauge on my 2003 X Type 2.0 Petrol V6 Sports. I have ordered a new Lucas Coolant Sensor which I think is an easy fix but have posted on the Forum to ask any Member if they know where exactly where the Coolant Sensor is located, Have you any Idea Mate
