"DSC not available" I have had this message several times now, then it says " limited performance only". Stop the car, switch off then restart and it's ok for a while. I did notice last night that the car seemed to be running hot, as it was pinging and creaking (exhaust) as it cooled on the drive and did smell hot.

I am changing the battery today as I believe it's the original with 07 stamped on the neg terminal. So my question is do I need a code for the sat nav screen or shall I put my power pack on the leads and keep the car powered up?


Mine does the same, the message comes and goes. Been told by my local garage that its speed sensor on one of the rear wheels.

Thanks for that, it makes sense now as that is the only error I get, so I'll hold off on the battery for now.

Hi David, 

When you change the battery eventually have the radio code ready to make it easier for you.

Some people do use the power pack though.

Paul has written up the procedure  --  you need it when the Parkbrake fault comes up - which is very useful.

Further information whilst driving to Mum's, if I apply throttle gently there's no error, heavy throttle  instantly brings DSC error. So I stop, switch off, restart all ok again until hard (ish) acceleration. With no DSC error I can gently accelerate up to about 70 but car feels under powered, so I'm thinking maybe fuel or would it still be wheel sensors as it's a traction control issue?

Update:

Got the car booked into my local garage, popped down last Monday to book it for this Monday (11th) to put it on the diagnostics. As of Wednesday fault has not returned and the car is now back to full power :yahoo: hopefully it was a dirty sensor. I am still going to get it checked on Monday though, I was going to change the oil soon so I might as well give them the oil, air,fuel and cabin filters and get them to do it whilst they check the suspension bushes on the ramp.

Further update,

Only one fault stored, miscommunication between traction control unit and something I've forgotten. Only £30 including VAT so happy with that. So I still will replace the battery as I think it had something to do with it originally.
