4.0 V8 auto box familiarisation

Featured Replies

Hi again. Sorry to bombard you all with questions but i am new and i have so much to learn!

My auto box, when i go to select drive makes the car 'lurch' slightly when going through reverse and again slightly when going into drive. Should i worry?

Do a search for type 2 lurch.

Also, what's your mileage as it may need a filter and atf change, round about 70k iirc.

Excellent thank you. Its done a shade over 80k if the book and meter are to be believed. Yes, tickover may be high. I am trying to book it in for a health check for oils and fluids etc and will ask about a change. Cheers

I'll say this only once!!!!

MAKE SURE WHOEVER YOU USE TO DO YOUR FLUIDS USES THE CORRECT ATF OR IT WILL DAMAGE YOUR GEARBOX.

Im not sure of the exact ref number but if you do a search for jaguar atf then you'll know which to use.
