im a self employed mechanic having to take bit of time out due to family circumstances i recently picked this beauty up shes my second xtype but first derv its a 130 sport d with factory kit few things she high mileage at 270 k just seems a bit gutless on take off at times im going to give her a service tomoz so lets hope that helps its strangebecause if you sit n rev it its seam slow to rev and will only rev to 4k but hold it there and revs will drop seems like u get power surges too

Hi Gavin and welcome to the Club.

I would never tell a mechanic what is wrong with a car, and I won't try.

But having had three diesels over 8 years I have found that fuel is a big tester, and the fuel system can get a bit mucky.  I have used various additives -- Diesel magic is a good one and not expensive.
