Winter is not far away and i was thinking a jump starter / booster pack would be a good bit of kit for the boot ( just in case ) . Can anyone recommend a good reliable one that can do the job ? There are that many on the market with contradictory reviews that it is impossible to choose one . I have a 3.0 x -type . Any recommendations will be appreciated .

Regards,

Andy.

Hi Andy

You need to get one with at least 1500 amps .

Anything smaller would be a waste of time.

Around £100 on fleabay

I have one that I bought from ldi for £50.

While it works OK it still needs charging after use and also weighs in at circa 15lbs.

There are available much smaller units that can plug into your power source that appear to do the job of battery boost.

Worth checking out eBay.

I looked on ebay and there are dozens to choose from . I was hoping that someone had a particular brand/model that they could personally recommend . There are some much smaller units that claim to do the job , but i'm not convinced enough to buy one . I have settled for a heavy duty set of jump leads instead for now .

Regards ,

Andy.

Hi Andy

I personally have a "Hilta" 1800 and can recommend it.

It has enough juice to turn over my V6 diesel with no problems.

Mine is around 2 years old now and still well up to the job.
