I have an Xk 4.2 2006 and the navigation screen no longer works. It just stays black with the white Jag logo flashing twice every few seconds. It has flattened the battery twice. Anyone know what the fault could be or any problem solving I could try? Many thanks for any advice.

How old is your battery?

What kind of journeys do you do? How far and how often?

My first thought is that this may well be due to a low battery charge, though if I am right you still need to find out what is causing it.

Hi

I'd check the battery, also be tempted to remove it and check the connections, could just be a bad connection

also, if you have the code, if it needs one, I would also disconnect the battery and reconnect it, that could also reset it

only other proper way would be to plug in and see what fault codes there are

cheers

Thanks Leo, not sure how old, I've had the car 12 months now. The battery died a few weeks ago, according to the AA mechanic, the battery died due to me leaving the car unlocked for about a week. I'm a trusting / absent minded soul. I,be just jump started it again, and noticed the DVD unit in the boot and the unit immediately underneath it is wuring away when everything is off. I may try disconnecting the battery.

Thanks Joe, I'm going to try the disconnection option, fingers crossed, then if no success I'll try an auto electrician. The DVD unit seems to be wuring away when everything is off so that's probably what's draining the battery. When the AA chap attended a week ago he said the alternator was charging the battery ok so it must be something draining it when it's off and likely the navigation system. I'll try the battery disconnect now and let you know how I go. Cheers

I disconnected the battery, reconnected and all is well in the world. Everything behaving as it should. Thanks so much

Hi

If your battery is getting tired, it can do this sometimes, they lockup on low voltage

as with most things jaguar, disconnecting the battery cures most faults

cheers

Joe
