Hi All

I know this question has been asked several times, so I had a look around and found the following YouTube video, I know its regarding programming X type key fobs, but I make a presumption the process  would be same for an  S type? (I couldn't find any clips for an S type) short video, and seems to be nice an simple.

Hope it helps

Regards

Steve

I have heard that sometimes the micro switches fail on the fob, I believe they are repairable / replaceable, but from what I've seen it looks quite a faff!

In my experience all that owner key programming routine is just nonsense designed to test our patience! I tried and tried but had to give it up as an urban myth or physiological experiment i.e. how long will you keep at it despite no evidence it's doing anything at all! I eventually went for a good condition key fob (I have the early X200) from eBay and had my local independent programme it for £20. I've since had the original refurbished by an ebay seller who replaced the micro switches. I bought a new rubber pad I fitted myself. 2 decent keys now at a fraction of original quoted costs, job done :wink1:

Iv bought a new uncut key the same as the ones in the video for my s Type has anyone programmed one of these keys. I went into Timpsons and the lad said he won’t do it as he as been told not to program a customers own key as it said made in China on the clear packet. He did say he will supply and program one for me but it would cost me £299 he might be able to do it for £250

I did send my spare key to one of the people on eBay - they checked it over (it already had a new pad etc) and sent paper with instructions to follow to get it to work. I tried, but it wouldn't work.

If I am down at the Jag dealers I may ask them to program it in for me, but am managing on one key OK. I have more important matters to sort - like a bashed back bumper that some 'nice person' left me with when I was parked in a no through road not far from home..... no note so it's down to me to sort.

That’s out of order but if no one sees it happen they just drive away

I really cannot understand why you lot have such a problem programming a new key fob. It is VERY simple if you follow ALL the instructions. As for Andyden71 going to Timsons, he's got to much money to spend. I have also cut a new key blank but I am okay with engineering small items.
