Hi folks,

Was driving on a short journey at about 40/50 mph and felt a small clunk from under the car like when you go over a stick or twig or something. On arrival at the destination a few mins later I noticed drips along the road and a black liquid was dripping very fast out from under the car - front centre of the car, like right under the gear lever - about two drips a second. More concerning was a square of metal hanging down at an angle slightly more on one side than another. I reversed away from the accumulating puddle under the car and was relieved to find it was only water - completely colourless and no smell of any kind. I know the aircon does release water from under the car but I've never seen it so fast and also all along the road behind me as far as I could see. The drips had stopped after about 5 minutes.

The angle of the panel or unit under the car does look concerning - although it's not anywhere near the floor and I was able to drive the few miles home later without further concern (I turned the air con off in case this might have caused further problems) - and I'll definitely have it looked at. But before I did I wondered if it was an issue other owners have had and whether it's a simple/common fix, in which case I'll just use my local garage - or it's some weird x-type eccentricity which needs the independent jag specialist knowledge...

Doubt it's much help but I'm inserting an iPhone snap of the loose panel - its taken from the passenger's side, so the front of the car is on my left as you look at the pic.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Hi

on a hot or humid day its normal

the evaporator/radiator inside the car get very cold, as the fan blows through it, any moisture condenses on it and drains away through a drain tube to underneath the car

cheers

Joe
