can anyone tell me bought jaguar x type last week and a/c button stays on all time cant hear aircon  going on so could it be a faulty switch and is it easy to change button if its that or is it a automatic thing where stays lit up

Hi Ecky,  we have same on our XJ8 X308.  Our S and our XK have the later climate control, but with the XJ8, if the climate is set to auto, then the a/c light will be on also.    This is as per the handbook; the aircon is not working but is live should the temperature in the car rise above what is required as per the temperature setting.  Same applies to the X-type.

Basically, don't change anything...it's working as it should!

Hi Alex,

The handbook tells thy to keep the climate control always switched on as it keeps the system lubricated. The only time the light should go off is when you have pressed the defrost button.

When the car is defrosted press the Auto [AC] button again to activate the system.
